This question wants to know if you paid taxes to another state in which you lived and / or worked in 2017.

If you did not live or work in another state, you may leave this question blank and move on.

If you did live or work in another state, you will need to review the Tax Summary for that state.  The Tax Summary is found by doing the following:

  • Under your other State return, choose Tax Tools, then Tools.
  • Under "Other helpful links" the first option is View Tax Summary.
  • Look for the line that says Total Tax.  This is the "Amount of tax imposed by another state."

Hi, I'm not sure what the Arkansas Out-of-State tax credit worksheet is asking when they say, "Amount of tax imposed by another state." Can anyone help me?

This question is applicable if

  • you lived or worked in another state.
  • your W-2 indicated state tax withholding in a state other than your resident state.

If none of the above is applicable to you, you may delete this worksheet to correct the error.

You can delete a form by following these steps:

1. Sign into your account and select your current return

2. Select Tax Tools on the bottom left and then Tools (see attached tax tools)

3. Select Delete a Form

4. Find the Out of State Credit worksheet and select delete next to it

I have income from another state and have entered the correct data but the program keeps routing me back to this form to enter data for amount of tax imposed by another state.  The program will not take any value I enter into the field.  HELP

What i suggest doing is delete your states and start over.  When you start over, do your non-resident state(s) first and then the Arkansas State return last. This way, tax paid in other states should automatically populate from your federal return and you should not need to record anything in the Arkansas Out-of-State tax credit worksheet.

None of the suggestions above works. 😥 No matter what order I do my taxes, I keep getting kicked back to the Arkansas Out-of-State Tax Credits Worksheet. 😖 I paid no tax in the other state (PA), so, according to TurboTax, I should not use this worksheet. Deleting the worksheet by using Tax Tools > Tools > Delete a form does absolutely nothing. The worksheet is still there. It's a like a zombie that won't die. This is completely preventing me from e-filing.

After you delete the worksheet, you may want to log out, clear your cookies and cache, and then log back in to see if it is fully removed.

Here's how:

Each browser has a slightly different method for deleting cookies. Choose the browser you're using:

A full or corrupted cache can cause problems in TurboTax, so sometimes you need to clear your cache (that is, remove these temporary files).

Here are the official instructions for the most popular browsers:

Apple's official support site doesn't appear to contain instructions for clearing the cache in Safari. Your best bet is to search the Internet for clear Safari cache or similar search terms.

If you are filing a resident state return in Arkansas and paid taxes to another state where you worked or had a source of rental or business income, this is asking how much tax paid, so Arkansas can give you credit and you won't have to pay two states taxes on the same income.

  1. If this is the case, first, please check My Info in the Federal return and be sure your resident state is listed as Arkansas and the box is checked for Made money in another state
  2. It is important to complete the Non-Resident return first, and allocate the amount of your federal income that was sourced in that state.
  3. Then complete the Resident state return, Arkansas, and allocate the amount of federal income. It will also ask how much you paid in taxes to another state.

If you did not file a Non-Resident return in another state, then the amount would be zero.

If this does not solve the problem, please give us more details, so we may better assist.

Unfortunately I’ve done everything below multiple times.  This is a reoccurring issue with TurboTax…has been an issue for at least 5 years.  I’ve talked with specialists on the phone and they can never figure it out.  Eventually I am able to force $1 into the form and it works but that’s not correct to do it that way.
