State tax filing
If you are filing a resident state return in Arkansas and paid taxes to another state where you worked or had a source of rental or business income, this is asking how much tax paid, so Arkansas can give you credit and you won't have to pay two states taxes on the same income.
- If this is the case, first, please check My Info in the Federal return and be sure your resident state is listed as Arkansas and the box is checked for Made money in another state
- It is important to complete the Non-Resident return first, and allocate the amount of your federal income that was sourced in that state.
- Then complete the Resident state return, Arkansas, and allocate the amount of federal income. It will also ask how much you paid in taxes to another state.
If you did not file a Non-Resident return in another state, then the amount would be zero.
If this does not solve the problem, please give us more details, so we may better assist.
