State of Ohio Income Tax Exemption

Fidelity has informed me that I have received federally taxable istributions that are exempt from Ohio state income tax.  This is occurring because of capital gains.  I have calculated the amount but where is this posted in TT?

Ohio does not have an exemption of capital gains on the sale of Ohio state and municipal securities/bonds (some states do). There is nowhere to enter that in TurboTax.

Dividends and interest on Ohio bonds are exempt.  As such, there is a place in TT to enter those.

Thanks for your help but there is a Fidelity sheet titled:  Tax Year 2020:  Important Information for Ohio Residents.  It goes on to say:  "If during 2020, you were subject to tax in Ohio and held share of the fund(s) listed below, you may have received federally taxable distributions that are exempt from Ohio state Income tax."  I have verified that I got the distributions and Fidelity has called the type of distribution "Capital Gain."  This is why I am confused?  Can you clarify?  Thanks,

"You may have received federally taxable distributions that are exempt from Ohio state Income tax."

That refers to the portion of distributions that are  interest on US Treasury bonds.  That question will come up on the follow up questions after entering  a 1099-DIV or 1099-INT

Massachusetts investors got similar information from Fidelity:

They definitely reference capital gains in the Funds Table.  The question is, how do you enter the exempt value into TurboTax?

As you go through the guided interview for Maryland you will come to a section for 'Subtractions from Income.'  Here is where you will enter anything that was taxable on your federal return but is not taxable in Maryland.
