Schedule IL-WIT question

Hello,

I am about to file my federal and Illinois tax returns. I was reviewing my Illinois return and noticed that the Employer/Payer Identification Number that shows up in Column B under Step 1 of 2022 Schedule IL-WIT uses the employer's federal ID number rather than the employer's state ID number. Is this what it is supposed to do?

Yes -- the entry depends on what type of form is being input.

For Form W-2, for example, the employer's federal ID is used.

But for Form 1099-R, the payer's state ID number is input.

Please see the 2022 Schedule IL-WIT IL-1040 Instructions for more information.
