I live in Colorado so my state tax forms are in the program. Next I started filing my ex-granddaughter in law's. She resides in Missouri. I put in her information for federal and when the program requested to click on the button to buy the program for the state tax, I clicked the button and bought the program. However when I entered the information into the Missouri state tax forms and clicked the review button, information showed up for Colorado state tax as well.
How did this happen?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
Look in Forms Mode, click Forms in the upper right and delete any CO return. Did you start a brand new return for her? Don't know how that happened. Check the address under Personal.
It won't let me delete the info worksheet. Is it possible to go to the beginning of the and remove the imported data and start over?
Sure. To start over in the Desktop program, just start a brand new return, go up to FILE- NEW. You can transfer from 2022 again.
Then what do I do with the one that I don't use?
You can delete it. You can delete a tax return from within the TurboTax Windows Desktop Program on the very first screen after starting the program or go to File-Open. Click on the large square icon representing the file you wish to delete (avoid clicking the blue "Continue" button). Then just hit your delete key and answer the prompt.
O R Start the program and on the first page click the blue Find A Tax File link at the bottom of the box. Then in the list that pops up you can right click on the file and choose delete.
Or you can delete it from Windows. You can delete the wrong return like any other file on your computer. The tax files end in .tax2023 and should be in your Documents folder and then in a Turbo Tax subfolder. Or search your computer for all .tax or .tax2023 files.
Thank you so much for your help. It was greatly appreciated.
