Account not debited for New Jersey Balance Due

Hi, I recently filed my taxes using Turbo Tax (Desktop/Windows). I have received confirmation that returns have now been accepted (Federal, New York and New Jersey).

I had balance due to New Jersey and I provided my Bank details (Routing# and Acc#) for the taxes due and 04/03/2023 as the date of withdrawal. But my account has not been debited.

I filed my taxes on 03/31/2023, and got confirmation on 01/04/2023.

Any idea when my account will be debited? Till when should I wait for the account to debit before I NJ tax manually?

TIA

If your NJ tax return was accepted on 4/1/23, that was just a couple of days ago and the date that you requested them to debit your account is today. You should not print and file another tax return because it may create a problem submitting a duplicate tax return.

The New Jersey Division of Taxation states that Electronic returns typically take a minimum of 4 weeks to process”.  They may not make the debit until your tax return is processed. If you would like to contact the NJ Division regarding your e-filed tax return, contact them at 609-292-9292 and select the option for "electronic filing and payment services."

You gave the state the information to make a payment on time. They will not charge you because they failed to withdraw the money in a timely manner. The direct debit date you entered merely represented the earliest date the money could be withdrawn not the date of actual withdrawal.

Thats what I figured- you give them the earliest date the money should be in the account- and they get to you in their own sweet time.
