Program defaulted to WA for free filing. I do note need WA. I need IA.

Hello - Turbotax did not give me a free state return.  It listed my home state of WA as free but I do not need to file state taxes in WA state.  I filed in Iowa and and this was charged $25.  I will not file in WA and so I need to free filing transferred to my IA state tax filing.  I would like Turbotax to refund the $25 +charges to my credit card.  Thanks.

Huh?  $25?

That sounds like you are using the Desktop software installed on your computer.

For the Desktop software, there is a state e-filing fee of $20-$25...even if you get the state software free. (except for NY Residents)

If you were charged $40-$45 or more for Iowa, that would have been the charge for buying the state software ....and even then there is a separate e-file fee (DESKTOP state software) for $20-$25.....but you can print and mail-file it yourself for no extra charge.

Preparing one state is free but eFile is not.   You can print and mail the state to save the eFile fees.
