TurboTax does not currently support Form IT-267. Awesome Tax Expert JosephS1 suggests a way to enter the information.
- Download TurboTax Desktop for Tax Year 2022 (if you are migrating from TurboTax Live Online you will find the functionality more encompassing)
- Download Form IT-267 and instructions for where to input your amounts on the IT-267 and enter to amounts as you have them on the manual form.
- Navigate to your New York State information.
- Click on Forms at the top right corner.
- If is not listed as a current form in your return click on Open Form at the top left and navigate to IT-201-ATT or IT-203-ATT if currently a nonresident. If you are/were a nonresident of the State of New York when the Geothermal equipment was installed you do not qualify for the credit.
- Follow the instructions for Form IT-267 and manually enter the amount of the credit from line 7 and code 267 on Form IT-201-ATT, line 6, or Form IT-203-ATT, line 7. Once the amount is entered on the appropriate line on the IT-201-ATT or IT-203-ATT, carry that amount to the appropriate indicated line on forms IT-201 or IT-203.
- You may be able to e-file your Federal return but you will not be able to e-file your New York state return due to manual entries. You will have to print and mail your New York State return.
- One very important item to know is that if you do enter the information per the above instructions, you will cancel the TurboTax guarantee due to manually changing the tax return.
