TurboTax does not currently support Form IT-267. However, I believe I can give you a work-a-round if you so choose. If you are using TurboTax Live Online, you will not be able to enter the appropriate information for the Geothermal Form. You must download and use the TurboTax Desktop version to be able to enter the credit available to you. The following steps should assist you:
TurboTax should make this work seamlessly like the NYS solar tax credit (IT-255) - the forms (IT-255 & IT-267) are nearly identical and I assume it would require minimal work to enable it within TT.
Thanks for the detailed reply, but losing the ability to e-file is pretty disappointing.
* Are you saying that IT-267 will definitely not be supported for the 2022 tax year? You have at least one competitor (freetaxusa) who claims to support the form. I've used TurboTax for at least 20 years, so I'm surprised you aren't addressing this state tax credit. @KAM63 makes a great point that the new form is very similar to the Solar tax credit.
* Also, in terms of cancelling the TurboTax guarantee if manually updating, would this be only for the NY State return, or would it also jeopardize the guarantee for Federal?
Yes, as per the accuracy guarantee statement, it would cancel the guarantee in its entirety. Also, I have reviewed the forms availability list for the State of New York that TurboTax has forthcoming and the IT-267 is not on the list. Whether or not it is going to be added at a future date I have been unable to determine. Below is the accuracy guarantee clause included with the software use agreement. Scroll to section B(3) for the accuracy guarantee statement.

@alans78 Still...id wait until Friday the 27th of Jan and check for it again.
Software updates only happen on Wed or Thur evenings, so maybe it'll show up even if it's not on the standard list of forms ..... It's virtually inconceivable that TTX would not support this form, even if it takes a couple weeks longer to get it implemented. Never paper-mail file if you don't have to.
I can't get the workaround to work. TurboTax won't let me enter a code or amount on IT-210-ATT. It opens a tax credit worksheet with a list of forms. IT-267 isn't on the list. Also, New York law requires me to e-file if the return was prepared with software.
This is yet another reason for TTX to enable NY form IT-267 within the program. Why did I pay for TTX if I cannot file ALL of my tax returns electronically?
We just got off the phone with TurboTax Live Support, 1-800-4-INTUIT ([phone number removed]). We asked when New York State Form IT-267 (Geothermal Energy System Credit) would be available. The representative confirmed that the form is currently "unsupported," and there is no indication at this time that it will be. She agrees that it should be supported and has escalated the request internally at Intuit. She also stated that the more people who call directly requesting the form, the more likely they will support it. If you are looking for this form, please call Intuit and let them know!
I’ll call first thing tomorrow. Thank you!
I don't know if this helps anyone in this thread, but for what it's worth I just completed my taxes at FreeTaxUSA in less than an hour and they supported form IT-267 without any issues. In fact, my NYS tax liability went from owing $1700 to getting a $2700 refund after the form was applied... so, my advice to those looking to file an IT-267 this year is to do so with FreeTaxUSA. Federal returns are free, and NYS cost me $15.
I have had the same experience with FreeTaxUSA (and am also not affiliated in any way). At this point, that platform seems the only one supporting NYS IT-267.
I just got off the phone with TurboTax rep and he confirmed that IT-267 is not currently supported. He did tell me that he would add my name to the list of TTX users looking for form IT-267. So like @Deborahwrites1 suggested - anyone looking for IT-267 should call and directly request TurboTax to support IT-267. Hopefully in a couple weeks it will be supported...
We just called TurboTax to see if there was an update since our call three weeks ago. We were given the same answer - IT-267 is currently not supported and no information if it will be.
I urge everyone following this thread to call TurboTax and ask for them to escalate including this form. (TurboTax Live Support, 1-800-4-INTUIT) The phone call took 10 minutes.
(Yes, there are at least two other companies that include this form - FreeTax USA and OnLine Taxes. I have been a loyal customer of TurboTax for years. I have already purchased and completed most of our taxes. I really don't want to start over with a new company.)
Again, if you are looking for this form, please call Intuit and let them know! (TurboTax Live Support, 1-800-4-INTUIT)
I called again last Fri. (3/3) and finally got someone to create an "Investigation Case" for this issue. No guarantee that TTX will ultimately support form IT-267, but I feel that this issue now has better visibility within Intuit. I agree with @Deborahwrites1 that anyone who needs this form should call Intuit. I, too, am a long time loyal TTX customer and have been ready to submit my tax return for weeks if it wasn't for this issue.
