Ok, I had to go into to into the Tax Tools section from the TurboTax homepage because the default copy of my tax returns that I downloaded when I filed and is available directly on the TurboTax homepage did not include any filing instructions pages!
FYI, I had to scroll down to Add a State and then click on Tax Tools on the sidebar, and then click on Print Center, then click on print this year's returns, then select the checkbox for my return, and then click the option to "include government and TurboTax worksheets" in order to get the filing instructions.
This is so helpful. I am amazed they don't include it by default.
I can see the date of withdrawal on my TurboTax summary as 4/12/2024 (date that I filed the form). But no deduction has been made on my bank account. Checking the tax status on MO's website, I have a late penalty and interest :(
Anyone else on the same boat? Still waiting for the bank debit? How long should I wait?
I submitted mine on the 13th, and still havent seen the money be deducted from my bank account either. Going to be irate with Turbotax if this winds up costing me even more. $64 TT charge for filing state taxes, was a ripoff.

Wild guess. This is why TurboTax says to send in the voucher. Saying that, even though they charged for the bank transfer method, probably keeps them off the hook for paying late fees. Supposedly the problem is at the Missouri department of revenue. I filed early enough that the bank transfer delay did NOT cause a late penalty. If I had a problem, I think I would send the state the form that shows you authorized the transfer. Hopefully you won't be held responsible for any inept operations that may exist in the bureaucracy. That or call - if they answer their phones.
I filed on April 9 using turbotax with direct debit scheduled to pay on 4/15. It still has not come out of my bank account. This is ridiculous
Please see this link for additional direction if your payment still has not be taken out. There is a link to contact your state agency towards the bottom of the link if the payment is for your state return.
Hello. . .
Curious if this is still an issue in 2025 when e-filing for 2024 taxes. It seems to be. Once again, I opted for Direct Debit, and once again, I was told later to print a voucher and send it in with payment.
I am not planning on doing that, as last year, it seemed a lot of people ended up paying twice---and I had no issues with the direct debit option last year (and ignored the waiver).
Hopefully still true?
The truth is you filed your return with the expectation that the state will eventually take the money from your bank account. Since you have already filed, there is nothing to do but wait. I think that it might be smart -in future years - to pay online at Pay Individual Income Taxes Online. Select that you will mail a voucher and ignore the voucher.
Interesting, and thank you!
Why isn't that method included in the TurboTax software then? I realize the link might be different state to state, but there could be a drop down to accommodate that.

The process that Amy described is absolutely different from state to state and even changes because this process is relatively new for the states. Plus, because the states (and the IRS) are pushing for taxpayers to file online, the process is likely to change some more.
Implementing what you suggest in the face of frequent changes by the states places a large burden on the development team. Perhaps someday we can improve on this link "How do I contact my state Department of Revenue?"
@BillM223 understood. Just a suggestion. It seems that something should be done; however, since TurboTax does profit from our purchase of the software, and they do market the ability to submit our state taxes, etc. So, we are moving forward with them in trust. To then find a situation where we don't actually know the correct thing to do, and potentially have to go to external sites to take care of it, seems a bit laborious for the consumer---so, we either hang tight hoping that what we have assumed in faith will work, does, or we potentially face late fees, or we potentially pay double, etc etc etc.
This is not all that new of an issue, since this thread started 3 years ago, and the issue may have even existed before then. It is a known issue. I think it is understandable for consumers/TurboTax clients to be a smidge frustrated.
