My Federal has been e-filed and accepted. If Form D-400 is available for printing why can I not get past the message that it is not available for "VIEWING OR PRINTING OR E-FILING." And two phone calls in two days to PHONE SUPPORT could not help me get past the message that the FORMS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. THEY GAVE UP AND COULD NOT HELP. And I have updated TurboTax to most recent.
The North Carolina Individual Income Tax Return Form D-400 is not yet available for e-filing. It is estimated to be available on 02/24/2022

My Federal is done and filed. I understand that I cannot e-file my NC state return at this time.
Right now I just want to print Form D-400 and mail it. I've completed North Carolina Form D-400. But the TurboTax software will not show me the form and will not let me PRINT IT. I keep getting told that I can view it and print it. But I can't and PHONE SUPPORT can't help me either. Even when PHONE SUPPORT accesses my screen they get the same message that I get. "Forms are not available for Viewing, Printing or E-filing."
I would even be willing to view Form D-400 and pen and ink the figures onto a paper copy but TurbTax doesn't even show me the D-400 (as it does Form 1040) like it doesn't exist. So... I repeat that there is allot of misinformation from Intuit support especially stating that it can be printed and mailed.
I bought TurboTax and downloaded it from Amazon so I did not use the online version.
I don't know why you can't print it, but be aware that filing your NC state return on paper could delay your state refund (if applicable) by several weeks. See this statement from the NC DOR website:
"Due to enhanced identity theft protection measures, some refunds may take longer than normal, which is 6 weeks for electronically filed returns and 12 weeks for paper returns."
THIS has to be a turbo tax problem for other programs like hr block you can efile your NC taxes. BEEN using turbo tax for over 10 years now but this may be the last time i use it. YOU pay your 20 dollars to efile plus it's saying you can efile and then you can't. SORRY just don't understand why they would take 20 dollars and you can not efile your NC TAXES

You might also want to review the delay in processing NC returns -
I just followed these steps. I’ve already paid for NC state filing. Follow this thread that was posted, hope it helps!! The good Lawd and my lil dog knows how mad and frustrated I was! LOL 😂
If you want to e-file your federal tax return now then change how you file the NC state return. This assumes that all of the forms and schedules included in your federal tax return are available for e-filing.
If using the TurboTax online editions click on File on the left side of the online program screen.
On Step 3 of the File section click on Start or Revisit. (Sign & File is step 3) click on your state prepared return then click file by Mail.
Select the button File by Mail. Then change the filing status of the state return.
After the federal return is e-filed and accepted by the IRS you can e-file the state return when it is available for e-filing. Just use the same procedure and change the state return back to e-filing.

TurboTax answers are all obfuscatory, they know they're lying but they're not going to tell us what's really going on while we haven't received our returns or why their site keeps saying transmissions not available or however it's put. they're just helping the government hold on to that money a little bit longer to squeeze every penny out of you they can
Turbo Tax is not the problem. My daughter filed her tax returns with Turbo Tax and her South Carolina Tax return was accepted immediately.
The problem is the state of North Carolina. North Carolina state will start accepting tax returns on February 28th. Therefore, no returns can be transmitted before February 28th.) When February 28th arrives North Carolina state will probably extend the date AGAIN! You need to contact the North Carolina Governor and ask him why the constant delays????
I just went to file both my federal and state electronically only to have Intuit take my money and then not be able to for fill their obligation of filing my returns. Bad business.
What happens if we cant file on the 24th? Intuit should not take your money if they cannot deliver, and yes it is the "Tax Year 2021 transmissions are not available" screw job.
If you can't make a product that works then do not put it on the market. This kind of mentality is exactly what is wrong with this country. Few to many people want to stand up and do a job right.

If you're referring to a North Carolina state return, here's more info on the delay at the NC DOR website. I'll also tell you below how to go ahead and efile your Federal return, if desired.

If you wish, you can efile the Federal return now (if all your Fed forms are available) and efile the NC state return later. To do that, you would need to temporarily change the filing method for the state return and tell TurboTax that you intend to "mail" the state return. Then when the state forms are available you can switch the method back to efile.
Mine saying the same
It did me the same way.. I was so confused...
I agree. I've been using TurboTax for over 10 years and have never experienced the problems I've encountered this year. I doubt I'll be using it from now on. They took my money to efile my State Taxes, but I can't because it won't except the State Worksheet which contains the information for direct deposit, etc., which is needed to accept the refund. What a huge disappointment.
The question is, will I get a refund for the money I paid to efile my State return?

You didn't say what product you are using. You mention a state efile fee, so I'll assume you are using desktop software (CD/download), since Online TurboTax does not have any efiling fees.
And what state is it? If there's a known issue, that might be important to someone who might be familiar with it.
If you can't efile the state return, you can speak to TurboTax Support for assistance in doing so, and if they can't help you, you can ask for a refund of the state efile fee.
Support hours are 5AM-9PM Pacific (8AM-12 Midnight Eastern), 7 days/week
