What error are you receiving? This should not be an issue.
For the last two years when entering my real estate property parcel ID to claim the Nebraska tax credit for property taxes paid for school districts, I was unable to enter the entire 13 digit parcel ID because the turbotax form only allowed 10 digits to be entered. Each of the last two years during the final review of the Nebraska state return I was stopped and told there was an error with the parcel ID and it had to be changed. Changing it to fit the turbotax form would have made it unacceptable to the Nebraska Department of Revenue, so I had to mail a physical return to the state. I contacted turbotax both years and informed them of the error, but nothing has changed. I just got off the phone with turbotax customer service and learned that it has not changed this year either, meaning I will be unable to electronically file my state return yet again. For that reason, I will not be using turbotax now or in the future.
I encountered this same issue today attempting to e-file. It keeps asking me to double check the parcel ID and that is should be 10 digits. When I clicked on the "Learn More" link I found this:
"Parcel ID Number. Enter the parcel ID number assigned by the county assessor to the parcel. This number may be found on the Real Estate Tax Statement issued by the county treasurer where the parcel is located. The parcel ID number may also be found using the Look-up Tool. Some counties use the term "property ID" rather than "parcel ID". Parcel ID numbers assigned by Lancaster County include dashes. The parcel ID number entered on Form PTC for parcels located in Lancaster County must include the dashes. The parcel ID numbers for the other 92 counties have either 9 or 10 digits and no dashes."
I live in Lancaster County so my parcel ID is longer than 10 digits. It will not let me proceed with e-file (I have already paid the fee).
For Lancaster County, unless it is a commercial property, the last three digits are zero's, so you will leave off the last zero's.
What County are you in @TimB5 ?
I just got off the phone with the Nebraska Dept of Revenue and they informed me that the last three digits cannot be left off. They(NDOR) are aware of the issue, as is Intuit/turbotax, but nothing is done to correct it by Intuit.
I do not want to take the chance of having it be rejected if I efile with an incomplete parcel ID, so I will just mail it. How do I get a refund for the state efile additional fee that I already paid?
