California state form 3554 keeps popping up to fix errors when I try to final review my state taxes. I don't have any need of this form, how do I eliminate the form?

You have inadvertently activated it by entering a carryover credit for that or have entered a New Employment credit recapture.

Review the TT/Calif screen Take a look at California credits and taxes, at the top or under Credit recapture, does New Employment Credit Recapture have a $$ entry? If so, delete it.

If that's not it then it must be the carryover. On that same screen, under Business and investment credits is California Credit Carryovers. Go down that path and see if you entered a New Employment credit carryover $$, and if so, delete it.

You can then delete the Form 3554. Here is how to delete a state in TT Online:

California state form 3554 keeps popping up to fix errors when I try to final review my state taxes. I don't have any need of this form, how do I eliminate the form?

Still having the same problem...
1. My New Employment Credit Recapture doesn't have any $$.
2. There's no Business and investment credits on that screen. I'm using a Turbotax Premier 2017 Mac.

How can I eliminate this?

Same here. Both do not have any amounts in them, but it still won't let me move past the same point. I'm also using Turbotax Premier 2017 Mac.

I am having the same problem. I am using TurboTax Business 2019. There is no TT/Calif screen. I have to plod through every page of my return and no where does it say "credits and taxes" or "credit recapture" or "new employment credit recapture".  I also can't find anyplace where it says "Business and investment credits" or "California Credit Carryovers." I would like to chat with an agent to solve this and no chat box popped up. How to I get to chat with an agent?

Please try deleting any related forms, schedules and worksheets.

To delete a form in the online TurboTax follow these steps:

  1. Open or continue your return in TurboTax.
  2. In the left menu, select Tax Tools and then Tools.
  3. In the pop-up window Tool Center, choose Delete a form.
  4. Scroll all the way down to the State Forms.
  5. Select Delete next to the form/schedule/worksheet in the list and follow the instructions.

California state form 3554 keeps popping up to fix errors when I try to final review my state taxes. I don't have any need of this form, how do I eliminate the form?

I had this problem last year. I asked on April 3, 2020. I followed the response from KarenM90 and that allowed me to file my 2019 taxes.  However, this same issue is here this year so whatever I did last year, just deferred it, did not solve the problem. What can I do to make Form 3554 disappear forever?

Make sure that you do not go into the "New Employment Credit Recapture" by selecting start next to it if you do not need to fill out form 3554.  If you click start next to New Employment Credit Recapture than TurboTax will generate the 3554 form.  Do not click in that field at all.

Here is some information on the credit recapture.

I am using TT 2020 on Mac, the form 3554 is hidden, so here is how I remove form 3554:

Step 1. Click on the "Forms" button to see all the forms

Step 2. Locate the first form under "California Forms" (or your state forms), my first form is "Form 540", then click on the left arrow above the form, it will show you the form 3554.

Step 3. The form 3554 still does not show in the form list, so I have to enter some text in the form 3554, then it will show up in the left panel.

Step 4. Press "delete" key to delete the form!

I hope this helps! I think this is a bug!

I don't see an arrow above the form, even after entering text. Using TT on a PC browser.

It depends on what tax form you are trying to delete and whether you are using TurboTax Online or TurboTax Desktop.

  1. Within your return, click on Tax Tools in the black menu on the left side of the screen.
  2. Click on Tools.
  3. Click on Delete a Form
  4. Scroll down to your form and click Delete.
  5. Under Federal in the black menu bar click Wages & Income to get back into your tax returns.
  6. Proceed entering/reviewing your return.

To do this in TurboTax Desktop you can follow these steps:

  1. Within your return, click on the Forms icon in the upper right of the screen to switch to Forms mode.
  2. Scroll down in the menu bar on the left and select your form.
  3. Click the Delete Form button at the bottom left of the preview screen.
  4. Confirm the deletion then click the Step-by-Step icon in the upper right of the screen.
  5. Proceed entering/reviewing your return.
