Several states do not have a state income tax. So these states will not show up in certain drop down lists. Leave boxes 15, 16, and 17 blank when you enter a W-2 for these states.
Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and Wyoming
Literally every other state is on there, to include states that do not have an income tax. I counted, there are 50 on the list (including District of Columbia). TN is the only one missing. This must be a glitch?!
Interesting thing you just noticed.
Some of us have been encouraging TTX to include every state, but just ignore the non-income-taxing states when entered in the state withholding line on any tax form.
Still, you can just leave the entire state line blank (in the software) if a TN entry has been made on the original of that form.
Yes it does allow you to leave it blank but obviously is an error on the part of TurboTax to just leave off one state. Makes it confusing for some who may not have done their taxes before or have just moved to TN.
