I would delete the 1099R and re enter it. That may clear it out. Is the income reported right? Did you import the 1099R and also manually enter it? If you were importing other types of 1099 from the same place it may have imported the 1099R for you.
Thank you. I will try that. It was imported. I will delete completely and then manually add it.
I deleted it and then manually reentered that particular 1099r. I have 5 1099r, but it is the only one with withholding. When I deleted it the only change to my refund was that it went up due to less income. I have no other tax withholdings or carry overs. Do you have any other suggestions?
Sorry, I'll page someone else. @dmertz are you still around?
Never mind. I have found and corrected. Thank you so much!!
TURBO TAX DOUBLED MY FEDERAL WITHHOLDING FROM A 1099R.
@slcjr Your withheld tax amount would come from the 1099-R entry. I suggest you review your 1099-R entries and make sure you entered the correct tax withheld as reported in box 4. If the number is correct, then normally it means two form 1099-R's have been entered reporting the same withholding. I suggest you attempt to delete the duplicate form as follows:
A simple way to delete forms in TurboTax online is to use the Tax Tools menu option, which is on your left menu bar when you are working in your program. Then, choose Tools and then Delete a form.
If you are working in the download TurboTax program, use the Forms Mode on your menu bar to bring up the form you want to delete, then choose the Delete Form option at the bottom of the form.
