I have home & business 2025. I entered the data from our SSA-1099 some time ago but now when I select update on Social Security (SSA-1099, RRB-1099) I get the first panel asking if we lived abroad (we both answer no) and press continue and it as though I pressed the back button. I expected another panel that would lead us to the SSA-1099 forms. Is this a bug?
Looking through the list of forms I see no SSA-1099 forms. Not sure if they should be there. I do see a social security benefits worksheet.
Is there a way to recover from this?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
When in Forms mode, delete the Social Security Benefits Worksheet. Then go back to the interview and enter the SSA-1099 again. If you are filing as Married Filing Jointly and you both received a SSA-1099, then on the screen asking if you lived in any of the countries listed, make sure that you answer NO for each of you.
To enter Social Security benefits reported on form SSA-1099
Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home and Business)
Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security
On Social Security (SSA-1099, RRB-1099), click the start or update button

that worked. thanks
My program will not bring up the SSA-1099 input screen. It brings up a Canadian screen
You may have accidently started your return in TurboTax Canada. Look at the bottom of the screen and check to see if it says:
"2026 Intuit Canada ULC or one of its affiliates. All rights reserved.."
If it does, you started your return in TurboTax Canada. You will need to clear that return and use this link to Start TurboTax for free.
The posted fix works but the step-by-step Income Summary screen still shows "Canadian Retirement Pension Income". I am not using the Canadian version, I verified I'm using the US version. If I delete the worksheet (via forms) for this, it still shows. So this is clearly a bug that hasn't been fixed. The form cannot be edited via Step-by-Step, only deleted and re-entered. And the Canadian worksheet cannot be removed from step-by-step even if you delete the corresponding form
This experience can be resolved by using the trashcan icon beside the Canadian Pension section but don't click Continue. Instead, click the trashcan then go immediately to Federal Review.

Tried that before posting my note. It doesn't work. The item still shows on the Step-by-Step screen.
Are you online or the desktop version? PC or MAC?
Desktop version on Windows 11.
When you get to the Canadian pension information screen, just click Back. You can click the trashcan icon, then click Yes on the pop-up screen, then click Continue. This did not produce a Form for this in Forms mode. If you still see a form in Forms mode that relates to the Canadian pension, you can highlight it on the left side menu, then click Delete Form at the bottom of the screen, then click Yes to confirm deletion of the form.
Yes tried this. Did not work. Interestingly, the form does not show up in the navigation list when you switch to forms mode but the form displays. You can use the delete button at the bottom of the form but it does not delete the item in the Step-by-Step.
