I have the exact same problem. Ive entered all info for my 1099R, then I get Needs Review message asking how much of this was for insurance premium. I enter the info over and over, Ive delete and re entered manually....still get Needs Review message. PLEASE FIX
You can click past the Needs Review message. It does not prevent e-file. You will go through a Complete Check before you file that will catch any errors. So, for now, ignore the needs review message. @Leona353
Hi. My issue was that I was entering my 1099-R as a CSA (which it IS) but removing and entering it as the Financial actually resolved the issues. It may be a glitch in the system.
I keep getting told to revisit one of our 1099R forms. It asks what type it is. It's a pension plan. So I matked it as Other.
I went in and deleted the bone 1099R and re-entered everything manually. Still tells me to review because of an issue

There is no Other for a Pension plan distribution.
There is only -
Form 1099-R
Form CSA-1099-R
Form CSF-1099-R
Form RRB-1099-R
Or a checkbox for a substitute 1099-r
To enter, edit or delete a form 1099-R -
Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home and Business)
Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security
On IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R), click the start or update button
Or enter 1099-r in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to 1099-R
Online editions -
On the screen Did you get a 1099-R in 2024? Click on Yes
On the screen Let's import your tax info Click on Change how I enter my form
On the screen How do you want to add your 1099‑R? Click on Type it in myself
On the screen Who gave you a 1099-R? select the type of 1099-R you received and Continue
Originally was informed it would be fixed by 03/20. Do you have any update?

TurboTax normally updates their software on Thursday's. So check back tomorrow, 03/21/2025
I had this issue and was unable to do the annuity part. Had to contact their professional advisor who after a prolonged struggle managed to get the information into the system. I got billed $300 , could have done it cheaper as this issue is the only complication in my uncomplicated tax return.
