Thanks! It worked for me.
I HAVE TRIED MANY TIMES TO ENTER SELF EMPLOYMENT INCOME ONTHE SCHEDULE C
IT STILL DOES NOT LIST TOTALED IN THE INCOME SECTION , HOWEVER THEY DO SHOW LISTED SEPERATELY
Income reported on Form 1099-NEC must be included on Schedule C. If you entered the 1099-NEC but did not complete the Schedule C, you will get this error.
Have you done it this way?
Revisit the section where you entered the Form 1099-NEC if you entered it on its own and delete that entry, by following these steps:
Open TurboTax.
On the top right corner of TurboTax online screen, click on Search (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax locate the search box in the upper right corner).
Type in “1099-NEC” (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax, click Find),
Click on “Jump to 1099-NEC”
Click on the blue “Jump to 1099-NEC” link
This will bring you a summary of all Form 1099-NEC that you have entered. Click Delete or the trash can icon next to each one.
Next, you will re-enter the Form 1099-NEC as part of the Schedule C so that the income is reported directly as part of your Business Income and Expenses and within the correct form and section of your return.
Follow these steps to go to the Schedule C section of your return:
On the top right corner of TurboTax online screen, click on Search (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax locate the search box in the upper right corner).
Type in “schedule c” (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax, click Find).
Click on “Jump to schedule c”.
Click on the blue “Jump to schedule c” link
If you already have created a Schedule C in your return, click on edit and go to the section to Add Income. This is where you will re-enter the Form 1099-NEC.
If you do not already have a Schedule C in your return, follow the prompts and enter the information about your work/business for which you received the Form 1099-NEC. Then continue through that section to Add Income and enter the Form 1099-NEC along with any additional income you received for that business.
Once you have completed this, the error should be eliminated.
I've followed ALL of the suggestions about this issue but none work. I've just installed all of the updates again.
The page about this problem says it was fixed in February but when I try to go to the pge it says it does not exist.
PLEASE give me a fix that works. My taxes were repeatedly rejected.
@mblagen No one else has posted to this thread for months--since May. What exactly is the problem you are having at this time? It is too late to e-file. E-filing is now closed. The only way to file your 2020 tax return is by mail.
It sounds like you are using the CD/download since you mentioned installing updates---what are you trying to do? At this point there is nothing you can do to e-file.
@mblagen Where are you trying to get the 1099NEC to "show up?"
@Critter @VolvoGirl Can you make sense of this?
Right. As long as it shows up on Schedule C as income that's where it should be. Where else are you expecting to see it?
I was expecting to see it on the first page near the 1099-MISC. It shows up there but there is no dollar amount. If you're telling me that as long as it is on the Schedule C, I won't worry about it anymore. One of the fixes I followed was to delete if from there and only add it on Schedule C.
I am still having this problem. I am denied access to view this link. 🤷🏼♀️
Can you please provide more information regarding the issue you are experiencing so we can assist you?
