I keep getting this message and it wont allow me to efile.
Taxable Pens/IRA (reg dist) "Were still working on updates related to retirement distributions that qualify for disaster or covid relief. You can keep working on your return and we will remove this message when its ready."

If this is related to your federal filing the form 8915-E has been updated and ready to file.
Form 8915-E is used by taxpayers who were adversely affected by the coronavirus in 2020 and who received a retirement plan distribution that qualifies for favorable tax treatment.
If you are using the desktop version do a update to make sure all TurboTax forms are current.
Then, revisit your Pens/IRA in TurboTax and make sure all questions are answered. Then the federal should be good to go.

it says my software is up to date. I am still receiving the message. Its questioning the federal taxable pension amount. That is the only spot on the form in red.
In TurboTax Desktop, try deleting the 1099R form then re-entering. When they added the update for the 8915E, I needed to deleted a 1099R then re-enter it for the update to recognize it. You can also go to forms mode to review your 1099R form. In the upper right have corner of the screen select "Forms". This will give you the ability to actually look at the 1099R input and find the area that is causing it to go red. Scroll down the form until you find the problem. If you cant fix it, delete and re-enter.
I am honestly at a loss... I have the same issue... NY State as well...
I've updated to the latest version, I've deleted and reentered the 1099R... still no change... it looks for a value to be entered into that field.... and I have no idea what to put there...
What a disaster, I may need to switch to a another program next year.
The States are scrambling to change their tax regulations to comply with the Federal CARES Act (which was just very recently approved and is working in the Federal tax side of TurboTax).
TurboTax will incorporate the state forms as soon as they are available.

This link has a listing of State Forms Availability.
You can file your Federal return, and file your State return later. This link gives info on Filing Federal and State Returns Separately.
I was able to file my Federal earlier. I checked to file later for states and the software allowed me to submit the Federal returns which I need to qualify for the upcoming stimulus payment. I wasted few days and wish I could have tried this earlier. Good luck everyone!
Is the error above due to the federal review or state review?
When it happens... It brings up a federal worksheet... Without the missingi information... won't the fed filing be rejected?
I believe the issue is related to State filing. The system wouldn't allow me to file Federal otherwise. I was trying to e-file Federal and State together earlier which was a failed attempt. It works if you only choose to e-file Federal at this point.
Here is the link to other post where people have mentioned that it relates to NY state forms.
Whooohooo... the error is gone... just filed... let's see if they get accepted!
Turbotax is not allowing to e-file because saying that "Tax exempt pension should not be entered in form 1 of state electronic filing" It is stuck and does not allow me to go forward. I have tried re-entering the 1099-r form etc. Please help!!
