When did you file your 2020 return? If you filed it timely in 2021, why did you wait until 2025 to ask about it? If you filed the return, and the refund was reduced by the IRS, the IRS would have sent a letter to explain the change in your refund. TurboTax gets no information from the IRS after you file your return, so no one at TT knows why the IRS reduced your refund, nor can TT find out ---the IRS will not share that information with TurboTax.
Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.
Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 3 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.
Thanks this information may resolve my issues thank you
If you used Turbotax online, log into your account and look for your prior returns. I don't know how long Turbotax Online keeps them.
If you used Turbotax on your own computer, only you have copies of your tax returns.
You can also get a transcript (electronic record) of your tax returns from the IRS.
https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript
You don't file more than one return if you have more than one source of income, you file one return that lists all your income, deductions, dependents and credits. If you don't receive a refund, or if the refund is less than you expect, you need to talk to the IRS. Usually they send letters if they change something, but if you moved and did not use forwarding at the post office, you might have missed the letters. The electronic transcript will show you what the IRS has on file for you, including what you filed and any adjustments.
@Dh26 Did you forget how to find your past year returns?
You have to access your own account and/or print it for yourself using exactly the same account and user ID that you used when you prepared the return.

Start a 2024 return online and enter some personal information so that the menu on the left opens up and lets you access your past year returns.
Many people have multiple TT accounts and forget how to access them. Log out of the account you are in now.
Or did you use the desktop version of TurboTax? If so, the files are on your own hard drive or any backup device you used like a flash drive.
You can get a free transcript from the IRS or for a fee of $30, an actual copy of your tax return.

SAVE YOUR TAX RETURNS !
EVERY year before mid-October you should save a copy of your tax return as a pdf and print a copy of it for your records. That way you will not be searching online frantically when you need it for a lender, FAFSA forms, your next tax return, etc.
In order to transfer a past year return to the new return you need the tax file
NOTE: TurboTax and the IRS save returns for seven years. Returns older than seven years are purged.
