How do I answer the question, "Did you get a 1099-R in 2021?" Is it asking if I took a withdrawal that would generate one, or if I got it for filing my 2020 taxes?

I had gone through this section already, at first answering "No" because I assumed it was asking if I'd done something to generate another. Then it went on to ask about if I'd gotten one previously and if I had a taxable amount I'd elected to spread over 3 years' taxes that needed reporting. When I got finished with the income segment, I was asked if I'd taken out a Disaster relief between 2018 and 2020 (the same question that was asked last year which allowed for proper reporting on the filing), I said yes that I'd taken one in 2020, and it said I needed to come back to the Wages and Income section and revisit the 1099-R section.

You're sure I should answer NO to this? There's a warning at the bottom specifically that says that if the reporting doesn't match IRS records that it will cause issues. And besides, it would be untrue to answer "no" here, regardless of me having already filled out that form last year.

This warning is referring to actually receiving a disaster distribution.  You have not received a disaster distribution if you are Only reporting the 2nd year of the 2020 distribution from your retirement account that was due to the Coronavirus.

On the screen that asks Did you take a disaster distribution at any time between 2018 and 2020? answer NO since you have already completed the section for reporting the 2020 Coronavirus-related distribution that is being spread over 3 years.

Oh! Thank you very much for the clarification! I feel that maybe I read it too fast and missed a word or two that made me think it was just asking me to re-iterate that I had reported the withdrawal.
