@tocguy The Premier version is missing Schedule D also and says the same thing, to check back later.
For me that stinks. The reason I bought TT early is to estimate my taxes so I can make end of year decisions like how much to withdraw from my IRA. If the form is not available before about Dec 28 I will be out of luck.
@tocguy I'm going to try overriding the Schedule D line on the 1040 with $-3000 since my carryover losses are higher than my realized gains. Maybe it will work for you if you override that line with your estimated Schedule D gain or loss and ignore the the details on Schedule D for now???
Okay, so the Deluxe version does have Schedule D and the Premier version offers "more help".
Does the Deluxe version support downloading data from my financial institutions or would I have to enter all the data manually?
What extra help does Premier give?
Yes you can import into Deluxe. Not sure what extra help Premier has. Probably more in depth questions on various investment sales.
You are asking about the Desktop Deluxe program, right? Not the Online browser version? In Online you do need Premier to enter investments and fill out schedule D.
@VolvoGirl Thanks. I guess I wasted $20 buying Premier over Deluxe or even more over Basic because Intuit implies and/or I wrongly inferred that it's necessary.
I do use the PC version. I hope that is always available as I would not like to use the online version.
I don't use the interview method. I use the step by step method where I choose what to enter. So the extra help is probably of no help to me.
Uh, the interview method is the step by step entry mode. The other way is by using the Forms Mode. But if you enter directly into the forms you may not be able to efile and you void the guarantee.
Perhaps my terminology is wrong. What I meant is I use the "I'll choose what I work on" method instead of the "Walk me through everything" method. But I guess you are right because once I choose what to work on, it still interviews me for that topic.
Yeah, I thought that's what you meant a while after I posted. That's ok. That's how I do mine too. I jump around.
@tocguy It gets worse. The forms for entering IRA withdrawals are also not available yet. That's exactly why I bought Turbotax early, so I could calculate how much to withdraw from my IRA. I hope I can find a way to override something so I can get a calculation for that. The decision how much to withdraw must be done before Dec 31. Couldn't you allow data entry and calculation based on last year until this year's forms are ready???
Another annoying thing I discovered in this year's version is I can't seem to copy and paste into a Turbotax cell from either Excel, PDF or the calculator. It worked last year.
Plus, if you enter a value in a cell then press F8 to make it estimated, it deletes the value. When you type it back in, the cell is highlighted as estimated but as soon as you leave the cell it becomes not estimated again. The way to get it to work is to enter the value, leave the cell, return to the cell and then press F8. Come on Intuit, why are you making Turbotax less user friendly than last year?
Does Intuit read this forum to get get customer feedback and learn of these types of problems?

There is still time. Updates are typically released (not always, though) on Thursdays so there should be at least two updates prior to the end of the year.
Many parts of the 2020 program are still not functional yet (not even my professional program is fully function either) so if you need/want to do 2020 estimations you need to use the fully functional 2019 downloaded program using the what if tool ...
This is my mini version of a tutorial that should be in the downloaded program:
Forms Mode lets you view and make changes to your tax forms "behind the scenes."
If you're adventurous, you can even prepare your return in Forms Mode, but we don't recommend it. You may miss obscure credits and deductions you qualify for, and you may forget to report things that will come back and haunt you later.
Forms Mode is exclusively available in the TurboTax CD/Download software. It is not available in TurboTax Online.
If you want to play around with different figures and tax scenarios without affecting your original return you can ….
It's always a good idea to make a backup copy of your tax data file, in case your original gets lost or corrupted. Here's how:
If you make changes to your original tax return file, repeat these steps to ensure your original and backup copies are in-synch.
AND save it as a PDF so you have access to a copy even if you don’t have the program still installed and operational :
AND protect the files :
Always remember to shut off the auto update function once you have filed your returns and do not do any updates unless you have safeguarded the PDF & .taxfiles to a removable storage unit for safekeeping. Click on ONLINE then Update Preferences.... don't be afraid to click on all the menu headings to find all the goodies that are hiding.
@tagteam Unfortunately, their website says Schedule D will be available mid-January.
For the IRA withdrawal, I found the forms are there and data can be entered in form view. It seems it's just the step by step for IRA that is not ready yet???

Correct. The basic 1099-R form in the forms mode should be complete but the interview that needs the new forms are not yet completed by the IRS and are waiting. (Only the CD/download versions have the forms mode- online does not.)
I too purchased TurboTax 2020 Premium early for the purpose of planning Roth conversions just like I had last year. I had no difficulty with this Schedule D last year. I hope that this feature is in place well in advance of when I need to do my conversions.
Don't count on it ... the Sch D is estimated to be ready 1/21/21 but dates are subject to change. Using the 2019 program or the FORMS mode in the 2020 program are the ways you need to complete estimates. https://care-cdn.prodsupportsite.a.intuit.com/forms-availability/turbotax_fed_windows_individual.htm...
