I have a taxable investing account with M1 Finance, and I sold some stocks last year. I had flagged the topic for 1099-B because I was still waiting to get the form from them.
When I visit this flag, I get a screen saying "Confirm your financial institution info". It has my account number, which took the format "#AA-####### AA AAA." I tried clicking Continue from this screen. TurboTax gave me another screen that said "Confirm your financial institution info", with the name of the institution blanked out and the account number set to None. From here, I checked the box to change the name or account number. I entered the name of the financial institution, M1 FINANCE. I tried clicking Continue and could not proceed.
Even when I changed the account number to the format "#AA#######", leaving off the letters at the end, I got the same result. I cannot continue to enter my 1099-B information, and I cannot file my return as a result.
How do I work around this? I also had a problem entering the M1 Finance info for 1099-DIV, but after I got the form I was able to enter the information myself. No such luck with the 1099-B.

Anyone? I've been waiting 6 days for a reply on this... I find that unacceptable because this is a bug that is preventing me from filing my taxes. I tried navigating to the 1099-B form itself in TurboTax, but it has a lot of fields. The Consolidated 1099 form from my broker (M1 Finance) is 13 pages... I don't even know where to begin!
You would want to make sure you have the latest program updates for TurboTax. I would then suggest moving the dash between the last 2 account number digits, to see if that may resolve your issue. You can also take a look at the FAQ link provided below if you need additional assistance:
What if I can't import my 1099?
Hi, unfortunately updating to the latest version of TurboTax (Premier for Mac) did not solve this problem. It still occurs no matter what format I use for the account number. #AA#######, #AA######-#, #AA#####-##, and#AA-####### all give that same result.
Thank you for sharing the link with me. "M1 FINANCE" is in the list of 1099/1098 Partners, and we are past their "ready for import" date (both according to TurboTax and according to M1's support team).
I'm also confused about this: why is TurboTax's forms list only showing me a 1099-B worksheet, not the IRS's Form 1099-B or anything that looks like the Consolidated 1099 form from M1?
