Check with Truist on the routing number you should be using. Sometimes there are multiple routing numbers and it sounds like TurboTax is making use you don't use the wrong one.
Was something marked as an estimate in your prior year return that was transferred in?

@rcepuch Thank you for the response. The foreign income is from a professionally managed account and i have received only one form 1099-div. As many others have mentioned, TT doesn’t allow breaking into each country as the questionnaire lets you pick the form 1099-div for 1 country only. What you are suggesting is orthogonal to my complain. Even for one country, the math is messed up and this is a very poorly designed experience leading to incorrect reporting

When you are in the business income section, and you enter the 1099-NEC you will see a box to check under the entries that say this income includes tips.  Check that box.     If you enter in the income section of TurboTax instead of the business section, after you continue through you will come to a question that says Does this amount include tips?  Say yes and then enter the amount that is tips.

If you are dealing with a Ponzi scheme loss, TurboTax is not the right choice. Because of the "phantom income" adjustments and the strict IRS safe harbor rules, this is one of the few times where the cost of a CPA or Tax Attorney is almost always worth it to ensure you actually get the deduction without an audit.   With the likelihood of a high audit risk, TurboTax gives very limited support for this because it is speculative and potentially perilous to your finances.

If you are filing as Married Filing Separately you are not eligible for the deduction.  If you are Single and your AGI is over $175,000 or Married Filing Jointly and your AGI is over $250,000 you are not eligible for the deduction.   If you are age 65 or older and meet the requirement, the additional deduction is automatically added on your federal tax return.   Standard deductions for 2025 Single - $15.750 add $2,000 if age 65 or older Married Filing Separately - $15,750 add $1,600 if age 65 or older Married Filing Jointly - $31,500 add $1,600 for each spouse age 65 or older Head of Household - $23,625 add $2,000 if age 65 or older   New Bonus Standard Deduction (OBBB): An additional $6,000 deduction for taxpayers 65 and older. I made after-tax contributions to my IRA from 1992-1999.  Some 8606s were filed and some were not (this was my mistake).   In 2025, I took my first-ever retirement distribution.  It will be reported using the pro-rata rule on Form 8606.   If the IRS tells me to prove my after-tax basis, how do I prove it to their satisfaction?   Will 8606s suffice?  If so, what's to keep me from simply making up the missing 8606s (since the IRS doesn't keep records from the 1990s)?   If 8606s won't suffice, does the IRS demand 5498s?

If he is a Green card holder then he would file a form 1040.  Depending on how long he held his green card in 2025 (are we talking about 24 or 25- I see 2 different years now) he may have to file as a Dual Status Resident which he would still file the 1040 form for his time in the US as a Green Card Holder, and write that on the top of his return.     Since he has no income, his return will need to  be printed and mailed.   For the 2025 return, they are due April 15th.    Yes, he would need to sign it unless he appoints you as power of attorney for his return.

The section 179 option allows you to deduct up to 100% of the cost of the assets, but is limited to your net income after expenses in the current year. Any deduction not allowed gets carried over to the next year and again will be limited to the net income that year and that situation repeats until you use up the full deduction.   With the bonus depreciation, depending on when you place the assets in service during 2025, you can also deduct up to 100% of the cost of the assets, but the full deduction applies to the current year, even if you have a net business loss.    So, if you want a carryover of depreciation to future years and your net income is zeroed out by the special depreciation, you would be better off with the section 179 choice. You also have an option to select normal MACRs depreciation where you get the cost of the assets spread out more evenly over the useful life of the asset, with more be applied in the earlier years though.   You also have the option of choosing an amount less that the cost of the asset for section 179 treatment and then have the balance depreciated using special deprecation or normal (MACR's) depreciation.
