In the Detailed Summary, is there an amount showing on Line 45300 for the Canada workers benefit (CWB)? You may also want to double check if you are eligible. This Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has information on who is eligible for the Canada workers benefit (CWB):  https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/individuals/topics/about-your-tax-return/tax-return/completing-a-tax-return/deductions-credits-expenses/line-45300-canada-workers-benefit-cwb/who-is-eligible.html

Yeah, I was suppose to receive an email from her. Nothing. Can't access the two messages she left for me because - fix the problem of the chat immediately disappearing as soon as you file.  Also, keep getting an email that she sent me a message and even have a pop up when I log in. Nothing. This negates the whole experience I have had with Turbo Tax. Please tell me I'm not the only one with this problem.

Using TurboTax, follow these steps:   Locate "Federal Taxes" or "Income": Look for the section titled Wages & Income.  Find "Interest and Dividends": Select the option for Dividends on 1099-DIV. Enter your 1099-DIV data: When you manually enter the form, look specifically for the field labeled Box 9 (Cash Liquidation Distributions). The software will ask for your Cost Basis (what you originally paid for the stock) and other information to report the disposition of the dividend.
We pay tithing to our church which is a charitable donation. where do we go to enter those?
While entering your form 1099-SA for your HSA distribution, you should indicate that the distribution was used for medical expenses and there will be no tax on it.

I am the trustee of a First Party Special Needs Trust for my child. Income from the grantor trust gets passed to my child at our rate (aka the kiddie tax) as my child is claimed as a dependent on our taxes (income is well into the 5 figures so well above $2700).    I filed the trust taxes (Form 1041) and I'm working on my child's now (Form 1040).   I was able to manually add form 8615 for the Kiddie Tax, which gives me the correct tax due on my child's federal taxes.   However, I notice the state taxes are using the federal itemized deduction to calculate taxes due. (my child's medical expenses all them to itemize at the federal level, but it is overridden by form 8615). How does form 8615 affect state tax due, if at all? Is TurboTax computing this correctly?

Oh for what to select when you posted this question?   That doesn’t matter.  You said in your post the version you are using and the OS doesn’t matter.

Obviously turbo Tax has deleted nearly all of my past returns off of my computer. Some are saying this is due to updates that turbo Tax has done this year and in the past.  Everything had been fine until I went to transfer 2024 tax returns to 2025. Turbo Tax is where the blame lies for this I believe. I have been using turbo Tax for over 20 years. Those returns are not on my computer anymore. Very frustrating.

If you used TurboTax Canada TurboTax Do It Yourself (Online), you must open another return if the return that you want to delete is the last one that you worked on. If you have no other returns, then you'll need to start a blank return before you can delete it.   To start a new return, select “Start a New Return” from under “My Returns” in the bottom left corner. Once you have started your new return, you can select “View All Returns” from under “My Returns”. Then delete the unwanted return by clicking the small Trash Can next to it or “Delete” under the return’s name.

Q. Do they mean claimed the 2025 payments in 2024 (prepaid college?). A.  No. They just want to know if this is your 1st year claiming a tuition credit, for that student.    Check that box. You will later be asked how many times it was claimed.  This is to prevent you from claiming the AOTC more than the allowed 4 times.    You are correct, it's poorly worded. It's more common than uncommon.

For the State of New York, when entering your document number for your driver's license, you do not enter IDUSA as part of your Document Number. You enter the first three numbers or characters after IDUSA. Not the whole Document Number.   Click here for additional information on New York Document Number on your New York Drivers License. ‌It contains pictures of your New York ID and shows which number needs to be entered.   TurboTax uses ‌driver's license and non-driver ID information as verification to protect taxpayers from fraud and identity theft. If TurboTax still won't accept your driver's license Document ID number, you can try clearing your cache and cookies. Then go back in and try entering it again.  Click here for How to clear your cache. Click here for How do I delete cookies?    For many state returns that ask for a Document ID Number, you can actually leave the document ID (8-10 alphanumeric characters) blank and continue to e-file. Some States may require this number and you will have to print and mail your return instead.  Click here for How do I file my return by mail?
