The “senior deduction” is added automatically by the software based on the date of birth and filing status you entered into MY INFO.  You do not need to take any extra steps to enter it. (And…the new senior deduction has nothing to do with whether you are getting Social Security)   The deduction is not on the same line as your standard deduction.  It is shown separately.     2025 STANDARD DEDUCTION AMOUNTS SINGLE $15,750  (65 or older/legally blind + $2000) MARRIED FILING SEPARATELY $15,750  (65 or older/legally blind +1600) MARRIED FILING JOINTLY $31,500  (65 or older/legally blind + $1600) HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD $23,625 (65 or older/legally blind + $2000)     For 2025 through 2028 there is an extra  deduction amount of up to $6000 per individual 65 or older filing Single, MFJ, or HOH which is phased out for taxpayers with modified adjusted gross income over $75,000 for single filers and $150,000 for joint filers.   (The deduction phases out completely at $175.000 Single or HOH, or $250,000 joint)   The $6,000 senior deduction will be calculated on 1040 Schedule 1-A page 2 Part V Enhanced Deduction for Seniors which goes to 1040 line 13b. It is separate and in addition to the Standard Deduction or your Itemized Deductions on 1040 line 12e.  Turbo Tax automatically includes it. IRS Schedule 1-A https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-dft/f1040s1a--dft.pdf   Need to see it? https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/preview-turbotax-online-return-filing/L77WCkvnu_US_en_US?uid=m681fkhr   If you are not getting the senior deduction it is because Your date of birth in MY INFO shows that you were not 65 by the end of 2025 Your income is too high You are filing married filing separately

Thank you for sharing your experience. The following article will explain how to enter the Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) and the rules associated with it. It may be the code that was used on the 1099-R, box 7. What is a QCD and how do you enter it? @MartyDC

Hi, @jc-caruso, since your situation is different than the other poster (they did not receive a 1099-K, and you did), I concur with your conclusion- add the 1099-K.  But, choose the option "I sold some items at a loss or had no gain or All items were sold at a loss or had no gain" and enter the total amount.    I verified that the option appears on the screen following the 1099-K input by selecting "Personal item sales" when first adding the 1099-K and being asked which type of income your 1099-K is for.

My Info Worksheet form keeps defaulting to a wire transfer routing number - this is incorrect - I am trying to make a direct deposit which is a different number.  When I get to easy step the software tells me that the routing number doesn't match - even after I enter the correct number in the form and save.   It keeps returning to the wire transfer number - how would I correct this behavior?

If you purchased in 2025, you would be able to enter each asset class in the expenses section and elect the bonus depreciation (except for the land and main structure of course).  If it is for a property already in service prior to 2025, you would need to file a Form 3115 as well.

I donated publicly traded stock to charity. If I select "Stock, publicly traded" on "Charitable Contribution Detail worksheet", then line 4 for "Method used to determine the fair market value" is filled in with "Comparative sales."  This is incorrect. The IRS requires Average Share Price.  As a work-around, I can select Securities other than stock and select the proper setting, but I would prefer this be fixed. I believe this has been incorrect for several years in TurboTax.

I rec'd a message from support that my case has been closed.  Of course, no solution.  I can enter the expenses in the student info worksheet, and all taxes are then computed correctly.  I hit save, get a message that file is saved.  However, as was before, when I get out of TurboTax and open the return again, all information I typed into the student info worksheet is gone and the tax computation is back to original state as well.   I have used TaxCut many years ago, sounds like time to start using it again.

Thank you very much for helping me.  I tried calling the help number but could not find someone to help.  My download from Amazon came with a free state of New York.  It appears that somehow from my download I ended up on you Online program.  I have been a tax preparer for many years, but it appears my software experience is lacking.  Its too late to go backwards.  At this point both my State and Federal have been filed and I feel I am getting the best results that I can.  Thank you for your help.

In TurboTax Online, when you reopen the Self-Employment section under Wages & Income, click the pencil icon next to the name of your business to change any of the entries you already made. A screen will open showing the income and expenses already entered for that business. Then:   Click the button "Add more income for this work" to add another item of income. An entry screen will appear where you can select 1099 or other types of income. Select 1099 and click Continue. A screen will appear where you can make the entries for that 1099. You can enter more 1099s for your business the same way, regardless of whether you already entered one. See this help article for more information about self-employment income.  @Angelo9

Can we please have an update on this?   It looks like the 1099-Q and 1098-T forms are now unlocked, but there still doesn't seem to be a way to report any eligible costs not reported in the 1098-T other than books. In particular off-campus lodging fees can't be reported anywhere.   Thank you.

I am using the Business Desktop version 2025 for my partnership. I keep getting the following error: "You indicated the partnership is electing out of the centralized partnership audit regime under section 6221(b). Be sure to complete Schedule B-2"   Schedule B-2 is complete but I cannot get rid of this error.
You are correct. Box 1 I meant. Thank you.
