If you are eligible, and have entered your DOB for both you and your spouse, then it should just come up as a deduction. Try closing, opening, and update TurboTax and go to deduction. Find the Seniors deductions and look to see if it automatically entered the deduction. Mine worked just fine.

You are required to pay North Carolina income tax on the sale since the property was located in North Carolina. As a full-time Maryland resident, you are taxed on all worldwide income, including the North Carolina rental sale. You will be able to claim a credit for the taxes paid to North Carolina on your Maryland return so that you are not double-taxed. The adjustments are not made on the Schedule E. To claim a credit for taxes paid to another state in TurboTax, prepare your non-resident state return first, then your resident return. TurboTax will ask if you made money in another state; answering "yes" and completing the non-resident return allows the software to calculate the credit on your resident return. The credit will be the lesser of the tax paid to North Carolina or the Maryland tax on that same income. This credit will then reduce your Maryland tax liability dollar-for-dollar up to that limit.

If you are filing as Married Filing Separately you are not eligible for the deduction. If you are Single and your AGI is over $175,000 or Married Filing Jointly and your AGI is over $250,000 you are not eligible for the deduction.
If you are age 65 or older and meet the requirement, the additional deduction is automatically added on your federal tax return.
Standard deductions for 2025
Single - $15.750 add $2,000 if age 65 or older Married Filing Separately - $15,750 add $1,600 if age 65 or older Married Filing Jointly - $31,500 add $1,600 for each spouse age 65 or older Head of Household - $23,625 add $2,000 if age 65 or older
New Bonus Standard Deduction (OBBB): An additional $6,000 deduction for taxpayers 65 and older. This is per eligible individual, meaning a married couple both over 65 could get $12,000. Important: This bonus deduction is temporary, lasting from 2025 through 2028. Income limitations: It phases out for taxpayers with modified adjusted gross income over $75,000 for single filers and $150,000 for joint filers.
The amount is calculated on Schedule 1-A, Part V, with that amount flowing to Form 1040 Line 13b
Look at your Form 1040 -
You can view your Form 1040 plus Schedules 1, 2 and 3 at any time using the online editions. Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen. Click on Tools. Click on View Tax Summary. Click on Preview my 1040 on the left side of the screen.

Not sure if I understood your directions. I cannot select both the top button (one state then select multiple states), then select the second button (to put in the PA non taxable portion and the multiple state PA taxable portion). I have to choose one or the other (one state or multiple radial buttons). However I found a way to get the right answer and not have an error show up in the PA state return. In the Fed return, I chose the one state button then multiple states. Never mentioned PA or how much was due to the PA munis. Then in the PA state "Adjust Federal Dividend Income", the only adjustment is to the PA Exempt Dividends (Muni Fund) to delete the non Muni portion of the fund. Have to choose the "other adjustment" reason. The Gov issue (non PA taxed) flowed thru as did the MD muni (PA taxed). I never mentioned the reason for the dividends to be untaxed in PA, was that they were PA muni funds. Seems it should be wrong way to get there, but I could not find any other way to get the right answer.

Unfortunately the online version of TT offers no remedy for this situation. I am purchasing a new computer which runs Windows 11. I will then download the desktop version. Good luck to anyone else with this problem! TT admits that this is an issue. It would have cost me over $1500 in NJ taxes. People should be made aware of this error.
