To check on regular tax refund status via automated phone, call 800-829-1954.
Federal and state refunds come from completely separate entities. There is no rule as to which one will come in first or how long it will be between their arrival in your account.
TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer. “21 days” is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.
First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:
https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/
Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 35a of your 2025 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:
https://www.irs.gov/refunds
To track your state refund:
https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_US_en_US?uid=lt447ebr
If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing
https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/refunds-take-longer-others/L14YlqFrH_US_en_US?uid=lexdr7zh
.
https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/irs-refund-taking-longer-21-days/L2vRAJbdU_US_en_US?uid=lexe7lst
If you are getting earned income credit on line 27 or additional child tax credit on line 28 You are subject to the delay required by the PATH act. Do not expect your refund before early March
https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/internal-revenue-service/federal-refunds-delayed-due-path-act/L5jnQJsBi_US_en_US
Note: “Accepted” is not the same as “approved”. TurboTax tells you the e-file was accepted if the IRS deems that there is enough information on the return for them to take it in for processing. Only the IRS can approve of the refund, which is a later stage of processing. If the IRS approves your refund they will provide a date for the refund to be issued.
FROM THE IRS WHERE’S MY REFUND SITE:
https://www.irs.gov/wheres-my-refund
How it works
Where's My Refund shows your refund status:
Return Received – We received your return and are processing it.
Refund Approved – We approved your refund and are preparing to issue it by the date shown.
Refund Sent – We sent the refund to your bank or to you in the mail. It may take 5 days for it to show in your bank account or several weeks for your check to arrive in the mail.

Once your tax return is released to the IRS, TurboTax has no control over it.
However, the IRS has published an article because delays happen so frequently.
Why it may take longer than 21 days for some taxpayers to receive their federal refund
The IRS states, "To check the status of a refund, taxpayers should use the
Where's My Refund? tool on IRS.gov."
You will need:
Social Security Number
Zip Code

MEDICAL EXPENSES
The medical expense deduction has to meet a rather large threshold before it can affect your return. The amount of medical (including dental, vision, etc.) expenses that will count toward itemization is the amount that is OVER 7.5% of your adjusted gross income. You should only enter the amount that you paid in 2025—do not include any amounts that were covered by insurance or that are still outstanding. Of course, your medical expenses plus your other itemized deductions still have to exceed your standard deduction before you will see a difference in your tax due or refund.
To enter your medical expenses go to Federal>Deductions and Credits>Medical>Medical Expenses
2025 STANDARD DEDUCTION AMOUNTS
SINGLE $15,750 (65 or older/legally blind + $2000)
MARRIED FILING SEPARATELY $15,750 (65 or older/legally blind +1600)
MARRIED FILING JOINTLY $31,500 (65 or older/legally blind + $1600)
HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD $23,625 (65 or older/legally blind + $2000)

Yes, if you sold your home in 2025 and paid off your mortgage, you should enter 0 (or a very low number like $1 if TurboTax rejects 0) as the final principal balance in that specific field.
When TurboTax asks for the "final principal balance instead" for a loan paid off in the current year, it is trying to determine the average loan balance for the year to ensure your interest deduction does not exceed IRS limits.
If you enter the balance from the beginning of the year again, or a number higher than 0, TurboTax may assume you still owe that amount, which can interfere with your mortgage interest calculation.
Please return to Community if you have any additional information or questions and we would be happy to help.

TurboTax includes a worksheet for each rental property to record your entries. If you print/save your prior year return including all worksheets, you would then look for the "Schedule E Worksheet" for the property in question. Schedule E (IRS form) does not indicate if the property was marked "sold."

I have seen other quesitons regarding the bug but still no answers. The 1099Q I am trying to enter has zeros in box 2 and 3, which are not permitted by Turbo Tax. TuboTax states "Your box 1 gross distribution must equal the sum of box 2 earnings plus box 3 basis." However the tax law states "The amount in box 3 must equal box 1 minus box 2." Also I have a box 7 to entere but no way to do this in TurboTax. Please help!

If you indicate that you are part owner of a rental property and you enter your ownership percentage, TurboTax will automatically prorate the income and expenses you enter for that property based on your ownership percentage.
To view the ownership percentage for a rental property, go to Federal>Income>Rental Properties and Royalties (Sch E) in TurboTax Online.
Add/Edit next Rental Properties and edit the rental property (pencil icon).
At the top of the page you will see Rental Property Info. Edit that line item and scroll down to Ownership Percentage then Edit. Here you can indicate you are part owner and what percentage you own.

The 2025 TurboTax Deluxe program has space for 5 digits for the IRS Pin. My taxes have been rejected 5 times in the last two days. Contacting the IRS through their website (after seeing the Banner about the Pin problem), I find that my IP Pin is now 6 digits! The program doesn't allow 6 digits to be entered. Any one else have this problem? Thanks

I am trying to pay the IRS and my State tax today for 1099DIV and 1099B I overlooked after my return was accepted by both. I applied my 2025 refunds to my 2026 Estimated. I will focus on the completing the 1040 X after these payments are completed. The IRS does not allow me to make a payment to the 2025 1040 as I have a zero balance. There is even no drop-down option provided. Can I make the payment to the option for Notices CP2000, CP2501 or CP3219A as the note here is that "payments of this type may post in advance of the actual tax assessment". Is there a better option? Thank you very much I appreciate your assistance your earliest convenience.

If you did not work for an employer you will not have a W-2. W-2's come from employers. If you are retired, you might have other forms of income such as Social Security, pension income, investment income, income from a retirement account like an IRA or 401k....etc etc. etc.
What tax documents do you have? If you have literally NO income, then you do not have a reason to file a tax return.

No. The windows would have been installed and usable in 2025 for you to claim the credit for 2025.
