The 2025 TurboTax removes the itemized deduction tool for non-cash contributions. So, when you enter the non-cash contribution and list the donations on the same day to the same charity, will you repeat the drop-down menu with "used clothing and household goods" multiple times or go to Forms --->Form 8283, then add a list to the "cost basis" area (it pops up a separate form with multiple lines). Which is a better solution for entering lots of non-cash contributions (but less than $5k)? Thank you!

@bourbonkathy    ....you are going to have to describe better where you are seeing these numbers.   We can't help unless you can describe better, or perhaps show a picture (without personal information) of what you are talking about.   Certainly, some of the summary amounts posted, they combine stuff that may not be obvious....but again, we haven't a clue as to what you are looking at.

T This issue was reported by other users for TurboTax 2024, and I am now experiencing the same problem with the Mac Desktop version for 2025 filing. When entering my bank routing number for direct deposit, TurboTax claims the routing number has too many characters. The routing number is exactly 9 digits — the same one I successfully used for my 2024 filing. I have cleared the field and retyped it manually multiple times with the same result. To make matters worse, I called customer service for help and the agent hung up without even listening to the issue. Has Intuit identified and addressed this bug for the Mac version? Other users need a working solution — not a runaround. Any help is appreciated.

One of the questions is asking about "Year end HSA value" and pointing to this form 5329-S. My HSA provider only gave me a 1099-SA form so I don't know what this 5329-S form is. However, from a statement, I can see the value of my HSA in Dec 2025. Should I just enter this amount and not worry about form 5329-S?

No, you should follow the guidance to put in a zero in the box for the 12/31/25 RMD because you would not have had an RMD due by then.  Your RMD on that distribution would not have been due until April 1, 2026 (today, as it works out).   If you have multiple IRA accounts, it's correct to aggregate the accounts and calculate one RMD.  You can remove the RMD for just one of the accounts or separately from each account.  As long as you withdraw an amount equal or greater than the RMD amount, you won't get penalized.

Hi Roger! Thanks for checking. I figured out the bug. If you start with a 1099-DIV that attributes to both "Colorado" and "Multiple States", it does not report that multi-state income in the state taxes. HOWEVER, if you go back and choose "single state" (i.e. don't report to colorado) and then prepare taxes, it shows up.   Once it shows up, you can go back and switch to Colorado + Multiple States, and the extra form/declaration remains (with Multiple States adjustment only, as expected.) However, I believe there's a bug here - if you don't choose "Single State" first, then the form never populates in the Colorado section of TurboTax - there's maybe some trigger missing to actually bring in the form that only happens when you go through the single-state option. (Note if relevant: this is specifically on a 1099-DIV that was electronically imported, if it matters...)

The “senior deduction” is added automatically by the software based on the date of birth and filing status you entered into MY INFO.  You do not need to take any extra steps to enter it. (And…the new senior deduction has nothing to do with whether you are getting Social Security)   The deduction is not on the same line as your standard deduction.  It is shown separately on line 13b.     2025 STANDARD DEDUCTION AMOUNTS SINGLE $15,750  (65 or older/legally blind + $2000) MARRIED FILING SEPARATELY $15,750  (65 or older/legally blind +1600) MARRIED FILING JOINTLY $31,500  (65 or older/legally blind + $1600) HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD $23,625 (65 or older/legally blind + $2000)     For 2025 through 2028 there is an extra  deduction amount of up to $6000 per individual 65 or older filing Single, MFJ, or HOH which is phased out for taxpayers with modified adjusted gross income over $75,000 for single filers and $150,000 for joint filers.   (The deduction phases out completely at $175.000 Single or HOH, or $250,000 joint)   The $6,000 senior deduction will be calculated on 1040 Schedule 1-A page 2 Part V Enhanced Deduction for Seniors which goes to 1040 line 13b. It is separate and in addition to the Standard Deduction or your Itemized Deductions on 1040 line 12e.  Turbo Tax automatically includes it. IRS Schedule 1-A https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-dft/f1040s1a--dft.pdf   Need to see it? https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/preview-turbotax-online-return-filing/L77WCkvnu_US_en_US?uid=m681fkhr   If you are not getting the senior deduction it is because Your date of birth in MY INFO shows that you were not 65 by the end of 2025 Your income is too high You are filing married filing separately

In the Arizona state return, we have to put our dependents and how many months out of the year they were our dependents.   One of our dependents was born in November 2025. One of the fields asks for how many months out of the year they were our dependents.    Should we put 12 months, or 2 months?    Not sure if this question is actually getting at what percent of their life of that year that they were our dependents, which would be 100% (and so we should put down 12), or what percent of the year they were alive for as our dependents (in which case we should put 2)
@renzob    A zero in which box? Knowing that could help others.
My husband filed his return, it was accepted. We amended it to change from married filing separately to married filing jointly. The amendment was rejected. We can not find out why it was rejected.
I've even tried re-encrypting with a new password, and it won't recognize that new password either
Where do I enter the $6,000 enhanced senior deduction on my tax form?
