I moved to a CCRC in 2022.  For my TY2022 return I entered the fee amount on Line 11 ("Other medical and dental expenses:") of the Schedule A Medical Expenses Worksheet as "Advance Pmt for Lifetime Care portion of CCRC Entrance & Monthly Fees".  The CCRC administration provided the figures.

If you are itemizing medical expenses on your 2024 tax return, when TurboTax asks you to enter your medical expenses, make sure to enter an item of Other expenses equal to the amount distributed from the HSA in 2024 to pay for qualified medical expenses.  TurboTax automatically subtracts the amount of an HSA distribution used for medical expenses when determining the amount of medical expenses to include on Schedule A.

I inadvertantly used my activation code that I purchased at Costco on an OnLine order versus a Download purchase which is what I meant to buy.  Now when I try and use my Activation Code on a Downloaded TT it says all my returns are used.  Zero have been used on the Online version that I am sure this activation code was used on.  Is there a way to reverse this so I do not have the Online version?

Also, if you end up itemizing medical expenses on your 2025 tax return, when TurboTax asks you to enter your medical expenses, make sure to enter an item of Other expenses equal to the amount paid of expenses from the HSA in 2025, including those made to cover medical expenses paid in 2024 that were incurred after the establishment of the HSA.  TurboTax automatically subtracts the amount of an HSA distribution used for medical expenses when determining the amount of medical expenses to include on Schedule A.

Both my husband and I have a Montana Medical Care Savings Account as required for Montana state tax purposes. I was able to enter my information using the Montana state Turbo Tax program, but it does not allow me to enter a second account which is my husband's account. How can I enter his information? (This is not a HSA. It has nothing to do with federal taxes. It is just a deduction for Montana taxes.) Thank you.
Do you mean a 1095A?  For marketplace health insurance?   You have to upgrade to a paid version if you have a 1095A----that does not meet the criteria for a "simple" return.

If you used it only for rental purposes after placing it in service in 2011, enter 100%.    You can answer Yes because TurboTax is asking about the time after being placed into service.  If there was personal use after 2011, you would answer ''no''.     For 2024, the asset was used 100% for business.   The time frame referenced for this question is 01/01/2024 - 07/31/2024.   There was no personal use from the placed in service date in 2011 to the date sold in 2024.

No, not if the entire carryover could have been used in 2023. You'll need to amend 2023.  The IRS doesn't allow you to skip years in credit carryforwards.    If you could have used some of the carryover, but not all of it in 2023, then you can use whatever is left in 2024.  I recommend amending 2023 as soon as you can so the carryforward schedule agrees.

Once your tax return is fully processed and you receive your refund or your balance due is deducted from your return, you can file an amendment. When you do your amendment to add your 1099-INT TurboTax will calculate your new refund or balance due based on the interest. If your original refund was more than what you should have received when your 1099-INT is added, you will have a balance due.   For more information and instructions, review the TurboTax articles How to Correct Federal Tax Returns, How to File an Amended Tax Return with the IRS and Video: How to Amend Your Tax Return.

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.  “21 days”  is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.      First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:  https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/   Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.   You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2024 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:    https://www.irs.gov/refunds   To track your state refund:     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_US_en_US?uid=lt447ebr   If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/refunds-take-longer-others/L14YlqFrH_US_en_US?uid=lexdr7zh . https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/irs-refund-taking-longer-21-days/L2vRAJbdU_US_en_US?uid=lexe7lst
