I think I found the problem.  The amended return has calculated taxable income incorrectly, so it does not match the original return I filed.  Now, how do I report this to Intuit?

In Canada, the CRA requires you to use your tuition credits to reduce your own tax owing to zero before you can carry anything forward. You cannot choose to "save" them all if you have taxes to pay this year. Reduce your own taxes to $0. Transfer up to $5,000 (minus what you used) to a spouse, parent, or grandparent. Carry forward the remaining balance indefinitely.   TurboTax actually handles the "carrying forward" part automatically, but you have to enter your info correctly first.   1. Enter your Current Year Tuition (T2202) Go to the Deductions tab and select Students. Check the box for Tuition and Education Expenses. Enter the details exactly as they appear on your T2202 slip (or TL11 if you studied abroad). Once entered, TurboTax calculates how much is needed to wipe out your taxes. 2. Enter Unused Amounts from Previous Years If you have credits from past years, you must enter them so they don't disappear: Look at your most recent Notice of Assessment (NOA) from the CRA.   In TurboTax, find the section for unused tuition and education amounts from prior years. Enter the federal and provincial amounts listed on your NOA.   3. Managing the Carry Forward Simply do not choose the option to "Transfer" your credits to someone else. Simply do not choose the option to "Transfer" your credits to someone else. TurboTax will automatically apply what is required to your current return and "park" the remainder. Schedule 11 of your tax summary will clearly show the "Unused amount available to carry forward to a future year."   Understanding the Tuition Tax Credit in Canada: All You Need to Know   Thank you for choosing TurboTax.

Check your records or your brokerage portal for a second 1099-R for $4,800.   Usually, when you withhold taxes, brokers issue two forms: one for the money that went into the Roth ($4,800) and one for the money that went to the the IRS ($1,200). TurboTax isn't generating Form 8606 because the form you entered shows $0 actually reached the Roth IRA—it was all withheld for taxes.   If you are under 59½, that $1,200 withholding is considered an 'early distribution' and will likely trigger a 10% penalty, even if the conversion itself is tax-free. If you find the second 1099-R for $4,800 and enter it, TurboTax will then ask the conversion questions and generate Form 8606.

Bonjour Véronique,       Le problême est que j'ai bien mis un date d'ouverture. Dans ce cas-ci, 2024 et pourtant je ne suis pas capable d'envoyer la déclaration fédérale.   Merci et bonne journée,

Thanks. I am using the online version, not the desktop. I did the steps - only try to fix the second property -  inside of it, in Assets, when I click the pencil it show the depreciation,  "click I am done", answer no tho the Question about Section 179,  click Continue. It takes me to the main page for the Property - I do not see the depreciation populating into Expenses, or any change made on the Fed Refund after adding the depreciation. That is my concern. Adding the Assett depreciation did not have any impact. Thanks!

I had the same problem. Actually had a TurboTax rep on the phone as I tried one more time to choose and transfer last year's file, and it worked. I had opened TT2024, opened and saved the file again, and I believe I had it open alongside the TT2025. For some reason this worked. I am so glad I don't have to reenter everything - but this shouldn't have been so difficult, right? I had trouble from the start downloading and installing the program, got caught in an endless loop of it telling me the download was already there when I hadn't seen any signs of download happening.

There are a lot of lines on a lot of forms when you prepare a tax return.   No one can see your screen.  We have no idea which "1b" you are asking about.
