This issue was not resolved with the 2/19 release.   I have non residential / commercial real estate that was place in service in 2007.  Last year Turbo Tax Business allowed me to take the 100% / 50% Special Depreciation Allowance by checking that box within TurboTax.  However this year, it will not allow me to check that box.  Is this due to an error in last years TurboTax, or is the error in the current year Turbo tax?  Please respond to this specific question.

Thank you for the reply.  The updates did not change anything on the South Carolina.  The way the current program operates is incorrect (by any standard).  It is only allowing a federal itemized deduction (after state add backs and federal phase outs) of $10,000.  That deduction amount appears nowhere in the SC State Statutes and is clearly a quality control programming issue with Turbo Tax.  With that said, I do not understand why Turbo Tax is waiting to correct this obvious error in the program and potentially letting people file their returns paying too much SC tax.  I started calling TT two weeks ago, I have had brief conversations with two agents with those calls being dropped; I have had a longer conversation with another agent who said I would receive a call from an expert (still waiting for that) and on this thread I was provided with an inaccurate response (from RogerD1) stating that my SC deduction is limited to the pre OBBBA SALT deduction of $10,000 - when SC does not allow SALT deductions!  This delay is inexcusable.  Happy to have a call to discuss this; TT has my telephone number on my profile.
Yes, the IRS will accept a PO Box for a mailing address.

I contributed $7000 for 2024 and $7000 for 2025 in April of 2025 to a traditional IRA.  It was then converted to a Roth IRA thru the backdoor method.  I should only be taxed on the 979.00 that was gained after moving over but the tax software keeps showing 7,979 as taxable income.  How do I fix this?

It depends. You can verify this easily.  Once the summary loads, look at the left-hand sidebar again and click Preview my 1040. Scroll down to Line 25:   Line 25a: Should be $0 (This is for actual W-2 withholding). Line 25b: Should show your 1099 withholding (This is for 1099-R, SSA-1099, etc.). If both boxes are correct after verification, it is reported correctly in TurboTax despite the summary. While it's usually just a labeling issue, you should verify one thing:   Check your "Wages & Income" summary: Ensure you didn't accidentally enter a 1099-R into the W-2 section. If you see an "Employer" listed in your income summary that is actually your financial institution (like Vanguard or Fidelity), you should delete that entry and re-add it under Retirement Plans and Social Security (1099-R).
What code is entered in box 7 of her Form 1099-R?  Is the IRA/SEP/SIMPLE box checked on the TurboTax Form 1099-R?

I have all of my tax info entered. Everything has a green check next to it. When I go to file and choose a credit card payment, I can't proceed any further. If I choose to file by paying with the refund and adding the extra fee I'm able to proceed.    I don't want to add the extra fee though. How do I proceed with a CC payment and not from the refund?

@user17715578008 If you skipped past that screen that asked if you lived in a foreign country in 2025, or answered incorrectly, that was your own user error.   TurboTax does not refund your fees for making mistakes that can be avoided by reading the screens more carefully.
It is not an IRA, turbo tax wants to know when my spouse died, name and date.

I understand how the credit works. My child is under two and my family doesn't make enough for us to not qualify for the correct tax credit amount.    I had turbotax review the issue and confirm it IS a glitch.... Have they corrected it? If not soon - I'll be taking my return else where. Thanks,
Thank you!

Hi Annette, After looking into this issue further, I was able to determine that TT is not correctly handling 1099-R's with the IRA/SEP/SIMPLE box unchecked (ie, 1099-R's from 401(k) Pension distributions). These amounts show up correctly on line 5a of the Form 1040, but the amount showing up on line 5b (the taxable amount) is showing a larger amount than the amount on 5a. That has to be an error, as line 5b must be less than or equal to line 5a. I think this error is directly linked to my original post of the ROTH IRA Contribution Limit Worksheet error.   Also, when I go thru the "Easy Step" process to edit this 1099-R, there are 2 questions that always lose my original response; "Did you move this money from a 401(k) to a Roth 401(k)?" (no) and "Did you move the money to a Roth IRA?" (yes).   Hope this helps.

Yes, a schedule C is needed. Since your son earned more than $400 from his repair work, the IRS requires him to report this as self-employment income. Even without inventory or many deductions, the IRS uses Schedule C to determine "Net Profit."    He will owe approximately 15.3% in Social Security and Medicare taxes on that profit, regardless of whether he owes any regular income tax.   If you still claim him as a dependent on your taxes, he still files his own return.

How did you pay it (the $804.00 that you paid in 2025 for school district 2101)? Was it withholding from wages, quarterly estimated payments, allocation of 2024 refund, other withholding, something else?   What documentation did you get; e.g. box 19 on your W-2.
