Sounds like something got stuck. You can try these things:
Log Out Completely: Before doing anything else, click Sign Out in the TurboTax menu.
Clear Cache and Cookies: This removes old, "corrupted" data that might be confusing the website.
Use an Incognito (Private) Window: This is the most effective "quick fix" because it launches the browser without any saved history or extensions (like AdBlockers) that often interfere with tax forms.
Check Pop-up Blockers: TurboTax often opens forms (like the 1099 PDF) or payment windows in a separate pop-up. Look at the right side of your address bar for a small icon with a "red X"—click it and select "Always allow pop-ups from Intuit."
Restart the Browser: Close all open windows of your browser entirely and then reopen it.
Most TurboTax errors happen because the browser is trying to use an old "session" from a previous visit. By clearing the cache or using Incognito mode, you force the browser to establish a brand-new, secure connection with the Intuit servers.

You can't make any changes after you file.
Your refund may have been offset. The IRS and state governments can intercept refunds to pay for certain past-due debts (such as back taxes, child support, or student loans).
How to check for an offset:
The IRS Hotline: Call (800) 304-3107 for automated details regarding tax offsets.
Official Notice: You will typically receive a letter in the mail explaining the specific debt and the amount withheld.
If you used "Pay with Refund":
If the IRS "Where’s My Refund" tool shows your funds were released but you haven't received them, please note that Intuit does not hold these funds. You will need to contact the Santa Barbara Tax Products Group (SBTPG) directly:

This isn’t a small issue. It’s a significant data-transfer problem that keeps coming up for California filers using the Rental Property module. California (FTB) uses its own passive loss rules (Form 3801), which often don’t match the Federal rules (Form 8582).
The software usually pulls the federal carryover amount and assumes it matches the state. But since California didn’t adopt some federal depreciation changes or tax laws, your California “basis” and “suspended losses” can be different. If the federal transfer doesn’t trigger the state’s “Worksheet for Form 3801,” those numbers won’t show up on your CA 540.
Since the program isn't automating this for you, here is how to force the data into the California return:
Go to the State Tab: Navigate into your California return.
Find the "Business" or "Rental" Adjustments: Look for a screen titled "Passive Activity Loss Carryovers" or "Rental Real Estate Losses."
If the interview doesn't prompt you, go to Forms Mode (Desktop version):
Open Form 3801 (CA) and its associated Worksheets (specifically Worksheet VII or VIII).
Find the line for "Unallowed Loss Carryover from Prior Years."
Manually enter your 2024 disallowed loss amount into the California column. This will flow through to your CA Schedule CA (540).
You are entitled to a refund under the Intuit 60-Day Money-Back Guarantee for the Desktop/Download software, or under the Satisfaction Guarantee for Online.
To request your refund for this year and last year:
For Desktop: Visit the Intuit Refund Request Page. You will need your Order Number from your confirmation email.
For Online: Since you have had to do manual work for two years, call 1-800-446-8848. Use the phrase "The product is not performing as advertised due to a known state-transfer defect." This usually triggers an escalation to a billing agent who can issue a service credit or refund.

In the future I guess that I need to keep checking even after I have found something that looks finalized. Again, thanks much and I apologize for any aspersions I might have cast on TurboTax.

Thank you for the follow up and the customer satisfaction affirmation. I saw the feedback section but didn’t have my thoughts organized for this topic and was more motivated to receive my refunds on a timely basis. I don’t recall receiving any surveys, so I’ll leave my comments here while this topic is fresh in my mind. Again, my question was triggered by the presentation of a liability and an underpayment warning with no immediate worksheet support or explanation of the potential liability. Best as I can tell, TurboTax does not have enough information at that point to calculate any potential Illinois penalty because some degree of annualization is required (e.g Withholding). Without knowing the TurboTax presentation and explanation standards, I think the confusion can be mitigated by considering these elements: Modify the underlying worksheet to show the potential liability. Reference IL-2210 and indicate the liability is the line 5 result in the accompanying explanatory text. Perhaps further note the result does not include the entered Estimated Tax Payments. Perhaps further indicate a resulting amount over $1,000 requires Installments and a quarterly allocation of other tax payments (e.g. Withholding) to determine any potential underpayment penalty.

Once your return is filed, TurboTax has no control over the processing or the timing when the IRS releases your refund.
Your refund could be offset. The IRS and State Governments have the ability to offset a refund to pay for certain past due debts. You generally will receive a letter stating what the offset was for. The IRS provides a toll-free number, (800) 304-3107, to call for information about tax offsets.
Here are a few FAQs to help you track your refund: When will I get my federal tax refund? How do I track my state refund? Why does Where's My Refund say "approved" but TurboTax still says "accepted"?
Why do some refunds take longer than others?
What if my IRS refund is taking longer than 21 days?

W-2 employees cannot deduct job-related expenses on a federal return. Job-related expenses were eliminated as a federal deduction for W-2 employees by the tax laws that changed for 2018 and beyond. Your state tax laws might be different in AL, AR, CA, HI, MN, NY or PA.
If you are preparing a return for a state that lets you deduct job-related expenses, the information will flow from your federal return to the state return, so enter it in Federal>Deductions and Credits>Employment Expenses>Job-Related Expenses

You actually can delete documents. The system just doesn't make it easy. Essential documents that were uploaded and are necessary for tax preparation stay in the system so that they aren't accidentally removed. But all personal and private secure data is owned by the customer. So you can delete it, it just needs you to go through the hoops.
You need to submit a delete request through your Intuit account manager.
First, login to your Intuit account here.
Second, select Data Privacy
Third, select Delete
Finally, select Make a Delete Request and fill out the form. You'll tell the system what program and what data you want deleted and it will take care of it.
