Yes, the interview is finally fixed and populates the "Student Information Worksheet" and "Person on the Return" forms correctly as it did in prior years.   But the ESA_OTP_WKS form is not populated - strange, because I agree that form seems more appropriate.   (Aside -- in navigating through looking for these things, I see lots of silly typos throughout the program, e.g., "Select an existing Person on the Retun (sic) Worksheet." It seems pretty clear TurboTax QA is very lacking.)

If you are filing as Married Filing Separately you are not eligible for the deduction.  If you are Single and your AGI is over $150,000 or Married Filing Jointly and your AGI is over $250,000 you are not eligible for the deduction.   If you are age 65 or older and meet the requirement, the additional deduction is automatically added on your federal tax return.   Standard deductions for 2025 Single - $15.750 add $2,000 if age 65 or older Married Filing Separately - $15,750 add $1,600 if age 65 or older Married Filing Jointly - $31,500 add $1,600 for each spouse age 65 or older Head of Household - $23,625 add $2,000 if age 65 or older   New Bonus Standard Deduction (OBBB): An additional $6,000 deduction for taxpayers 65 and older. This is per eligible individual, meaning a married couple both over 65 could get $12,000. Important: This bonus deduction is temporary, lasting from 2025 through 2028. Income limitations: It phases out for taxpayers with modified adjusted gross income over $75,000 for single filers and $150,000 for joint filers. The amount is calculated on Schedule 1-A, Part V, with that amount flowing to Form 1040 Line 13b Look at your Form 1040 - You can view your Form 1040 plus Schedules 1, 2 and 3 at any time using the online editions. IRS Reference Number 9001 on the "Where's My Refund" (WMR) tool usually indicates a temporary systemic error or that an incorrect Social Security Number (SSN) or Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) was entered. It often appears when checking status for a joint return using the secondary filer's info, or when the system needs to verify your identity.

Follow up the recommendation to denote the Mutual Fund donation as "Securities, other than stock" -  TT asks the following questions: - Did you have the item(s) in this donation appraised? Yes No     An appraisal is required for any item or group of similar items with a resale value of $5,000 or more.    I'm guessing that I should answer "No" to appraisal, but the brokerage firm did set the value based on the Average Selling Price, which I selected on a prior page.   Would an EFT follow "stock, publicly traded" reporting or "securities, other than stock"?
Go back to My Info and change your occupation to Student as this will eliminate the Saver's Credit from being included on your tax return.

Turbo tax will not print page one and two of Wisconsin Schedule H. Page one and two are blank but it will print page 3 and four. At first when I reviewed my state return it was a circular problem. It said there was one error in my return. It said I could not file electronically because Wisconsin requires a property tax statement to be attached with my return. When I hit continue it went back to "There is one error with your return". After I filled out the property tax statement on turbo tax the error message was gone but when I try to now print my return, the print menu says Schedule H is part of my return, but then pages one and two are blank. I have tried shutting down turbo tax and restarting my computer.  Turbo tax is fully updated.

I have a schedule K-1 that I'm entering in TurboTax.  TurboTax has two fields to enter data for Box 5; "Interest Income" and "Interest from U.S. Obligations in Box 5".   On my Schedule K-1 it has an amount of $102 in Box 5.  There is also code ZZ in Box 20.  Code ZZ states "U.S. Interest (part of LN 5/6A)" with an amount of $15.   Do I enter $102 in TurboTax Box 5 for "Interest Income" and $15 in Box 5 for "Interest from U.S. Obligations in Box 5"?

Thank you all for this.  It sucks that I had to start from scratch to see it.  Rather than continue though, I went to a competing product and got filed in less time than with TT this year and for less overall cost (even in DIY).  I also do not appreciate the manipulation to pay nearly $200 for something I never used because it was a trap all the way until filing discovering how much in cost there is to file.  I value my time and there was also a glitch with Turbotax with W2 imports this year, kind of annoying where duplication occurred.  Maybe next year is the year?

Hi Melinda,   I checked Lines: 'ForeignIncmSection951ACrAmt' - Line 25  'ForeignBranchIncomeCrAmt' - Line 26 'ForeignPassiveIncTaxCreditAmt' - Line 27 'ForeignGeneralIncTaxCreditAmt' - Line 28 'ForeignIncmSection901jCrAmt' - Line 29 'ForeignIncRsrcdTreatyTaxCrAmt' - Line 30 'ForeignIncLumpSumDistribCrAmt' - Line 31 'TentativeForeignTaxCreditAmt' - Line 35    The only change is that lines 32 and 33 now also have a zero as did 35 in the prior version. Is this safe to refile?   I also backed up my return and reinstalled my desktop version and restarted my computer.   Thank you.
