The selection for the question 'What type of investment did you sell?' allows a selection of 'Bond'. It's not exactly clear what you are trying to enter and the question specifically asks about bonds.   If what you sold was not a bond the following selections are available: Stock (non-employee) Mutual fund, Index Fund, or ETF Bond Options If you want to select 'Other' there are additional choices on that screen. The key is to report all of your income and if there is a sale of an investment you want to have credit for your cost basis. This can be done in either selection. Keep the Form 1099-B in your tax file if you choose the 'Other' category so that you know it was reported and can explain it.   @LSOH

There is no fee to amend unless the change you make requires an upgrade to a higher paid version of the software, such as from Free Edition to Deluxe or Premium.   Did you also upgrade to a version of "Live Assist" or "Full Service"--- or is the extra amount you are seeing really the additional tax you owe from adding more income when you amended?   We cannot see your tax return or any of your account information.   It seems highly unlikely that seeking help for amending would result in over $600 of fees.     No one in the user forum can resolve a billing issue.  If you have a question about your TurboTax fees or billing, make sure you use the word “billing” in your request for help.  Do not use the word “refund.”   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/account-management/contact-turbotax/L2y9ZKpQB_US_en_US?uid=m5s9l2vh

It is March 2026. Last year I bought TurboTax Deluxe (Federal only) for TY2024, but then added a state from inside the software. (I can see the purchase in my TurboTax account.) I need to use it again, so installed it on a new computer. That was fine as I still had some activations left, and the installation went fine. However, when I try to double click my .tax2024 file from last year, there is an "Error 190", but it takes me to the State download page. When I choose my state, it wants me to pay for the state again. I am stuck being unable to open the file that I used on the same software last year.  Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah.  It was a 20 year T-bill payable every 6 months bought on the secondary market.  Therefore, since I was nearly 2 months into the interest payment cycle, I had to purchase the interest for the time the other person owned it.  As you said, I made a separate 1099-INT for the T-bill and checked the needed adjustment for accrued interest.  That way I only paid tax on the interest that I earned for the 4 months.  Turbo Tax should have been much better with guidance to do exactly what I did.  By the way, Google AI correctly gave the answer, then I saw your post.  Thanks anyway.

"5 days early" means you are supposed to receive your federal refund from one to five days sooner than the refund date shown on the IRS refund site.   If it does not meet that "at least one day sooner" date, they are supposed to refund the $35 fee.   You have to pay attention to the date on the IRS refund site. You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2025 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:    https://www.irs.gov/refunds

I did a Roth conversion for 6000. I received a 1099R with gross distribution of 1200, taxable amount of 1200, and federal tax withheld of 1200. Distribution code 7 and the IRA/SEP box is checked. Why doesn't Turbotax generate a form 8606? It is not asking me for the actual conversion amount of 6000.

"Did it on my own" does not make using TurboTax free.   Only the Free Edition for a very simple Form 1040 with no extra forms or schedules is free.   There are two other "do it yourself" versions of the software that you must pay for.   If you upgraded to do it yourself Deluxe or do it yourself Premium----those are paid versions, and you also pay for the state returns that went with them.     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/change-service-level/downgrade-lower-priced-version-turbotax-online/L2IDaMvkt_US_en_US?uid=m6ilzady     WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY?  I WANT THE FREE EDITION   The information that you can enter in Free Edition is pretty limited now.  Thanks to the tax laws that began for 2018 returns, there are no more simple Form 1040EZ or 1040A's.  Everything goes on a Form 1040 that has three extra "schedules" with it, and if you need any of those schedules, you are not able to use the Free Edition.  Using the standard deduction instead of itemizing does NOT mean you will not need any of those schedules.   If you started in the Free Edition and entered any data that required any extra forms or schedules, you have to upgrade to a paid version and if you are watching the screens carefully you are alerted to the upgrade.       TurboTax Online: Important Details about Filing Simple Form 1040 Returns If you have a simple Form 1040 return only (no forms or schedules except as needed to claim the Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit or student loan interest), you can file for free yourself with TurboTax Free Edition, or you can file with TurboTax Live Assisted Basic at the listed price. Roughly 37% of taxpayers are eligible. Not true. I was working with Chase who published and mailed investment documents. They also said the bug was on the TT side that all their docs were ready for import but could not be due to the TT software.   And for the 5695 form IRS was complete with modifications on 1/28/26. TT team should have been able to incorporate long before 5 weeks.... and finally I think we all agree that it is so broken that the TT software allow you to file knowing it will be immediately rejected.   But thank you for your comments.  🙂

Your post is not clear.    When you say you can find your transcripts on the IRS site----what do you mean?   The IRS would only have a transcript of a tax return if you filed a tax return.   Why are you saying you want to file?   Or are you talking about "wage & income" transcripts that you want to use in order to file because you do not have your W-2's or 1099's to enter for those years when you prepare tax returns?
