@JustAsking1 I hear you, and I completely understand why it feels like we’re stuck on repeat with this one. Six years is a long time to wait for a specific update, and I want to be as direct as possible with you because I know how much you value a clear answer.   Right now, we don’t have a confirmed timeline for adding more lines to the T1135. I know that’s not the 'yes' you were looking for, and I wish I had a more definitive update to share today. These kinds of structural changes to our forms can be more complex than they look on the surface, but we definitely recognize that it's a pain point for our power users.   Please understand that this is not just a suggestion box; your post is exactly the type of feedback we use to prioritize what we work on next.    We really value your loyalty over the years, and we'll be sure to share any news here as soon as we have it.

TurboTax gets no information from the IRS after you file your tax return, so no one at TT knows about a letter the IRS sent you or what you had to do to follow their instructions.    All you can do is watch the IRS refund site for updates.  Only the IRS is in control, and only the IRS knows when they will issue your refund.     You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2025 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:    https://www.irs.gov/refunds
Did this and it did not solve the problem.

Can I just amend state return? There's nothing wrong with my Federal return. Everything (W2, 1099INT/DIV, long term gain etc) is already entered in Federal part of Turbotax. I didn't forget anything.   My income gets transferred to state but I'm supposed to report the first half of 2025 as CA income when I lived there. I just made mistake in CA W2 calculation when I was a CA resident. I over reported my W2 income and under or didn't report my wife's W2.

No, it doesn't have anything to do with using the free version of TurboTax.  The IRS doesn't know which version you used to file.  It's probably because there is something in your return that the IRS is looking at. It could be the Child Tax Credit or Earned Income Credit.  The IRS scrutinizes returns with these credits more carefully.  That's not to say there is a problem with your return.
Thank you for the help. It was our first year doing it and of course we didn’t research before. Big mistake that we will certainly learn from!

IRS states in Pub. 970 that a rollover Roth IRA contribution does not need to be entered in your tax return. Save Form 5498 reporting the rollover for your tax records.   If the contribution is for the beneficiary, and you are the recipient, the beneficiary would keep the documentation for their records.    Here's more detailed info 1099-Q Reporting Rollover Roth IRA contribution.   @jul_bun_pan

The IRS checks the first four letters of the payer's name with the TIN/EIN. If they don't match it will continue to be rejected. It's actually the IRS that is rejected the return and not TurboTax. Double check with Capital Bank & Trust Co to confirm the name and number they are using is what is on the IRS records.   If after confirming this information, it's quite likely you will be required to mail your tax return. This is the way that I read Publication 527.     The Pub portrays improvements as expenditures that may be capitalized and depreciated.     The Pub portrays betterments as expenses that would then be subject to the quote from page 5 above.   My understanding of the stance that the IRS takes is based upon the nature of the business, active participation versus passive participation.     The IRS considers a rental activity to be a passive activity by its nature.  And the IRS considers a self-employment activity to be an active participation activity by definition. The IRS sees no problem expensing or amortizing start up costs for a self-employment activity.   This is my take.  I am sure that you will be able to find vigorous discussions on this blog on this topic.  Best wishes to you.   @kata123

You might see only part of your foreign taxes paid show up as a credit. That’s because the IRS limits the credit to the lower of your actual foreign taxes paid or the U.S. tax owed on that foreign income (based on Form 1116).   If the foreign tax rate is higher than the U.S. rate, you can’t use the excess as a credit. However, you can usually carry it back one year or forward up to ten years.

As a beneficiary, I uploaded & inputted #'s from the K-1 Form 1041 our tax preparer issued us, from our mother's final Trust account return, onto my Turbo Tax Premiere. As I was in the final steps to complete my filing with TT, I noticed that TT didn't issue me a deduction for my share of the trust's financial loss. Put another way, TTP's calculations are not giving me my due deductions for 11 C & D: C Short-term capital loss carryover D Long-term capital loss carryover. How can I get TT to acknowledge my rightful deductions, which will of course lower my taxes-owed?
