Form 8995 is generated automatically in TurboTax upon entering qualified business income, such as Schedule C, E, or K-1, rather than being filled out directly. Users can verify that the form was generated by accessing "Forms" (Desktop) or "Tax Tools" > "Tools" > "View Tax Summary" (Online).
Check your entries for the K-1 and any other business schedules to confirm that your answers to the questions did not include anything that would exclude you from the Qualified Business Income Deduction. The entries for the business forms have follow-up questions that help determine whether the QBI Deduction applies.
Some other users have found that clicking the QuickZoom at the top of the QBI Deduction Summary worksheet for Form 8995 caused the form to populate, or that viewing the form in Forms Mode caused it to populate. The information on the actual form may explain why it's not included.
You can use Form 8995 if your 2025 total taxable income (before the qualified business income deduction) is less than $197,300 ($394,600 for joint filers) and you're not a patron of an agricultural or horticultural cooperative. Otherwise, you’ll use the longer Form 8995-A.
