You cannot change or add anything on the return that you just e-filed, nor can you stop it.  It is too late, just like when you put an envelope in a US mailbox on the corner.  The IRS does not allow you to take it back.   If you left out a W-2, a 1099G, or a dependent, or a 1099 etc…DO NOT change your return while it is “pending.”  The changes will go nowhere.   Now you have to wait until the IRS either rejects or accepts your return.  If your return is rejected, you will be able to go into your account and make the necessary changes to your tax return and re-submit your return.     If the IRS accepts your return, however, then you have to wait longer until it has been fully processed and you have received your refund.  THEN you can prepare an amended tax return and e-file or mail  it in. You have to be able to work from that return exactly the way it was when it was e-filed originally.  You will need to use a form called a 1040X.     Meanwhile, DO NOT go in and start changing anything on your return in the system, or you will make a mess for yourself.  Sit tight and wait until you see what the IRS does with the return you just e-filed   The Form 1040X you need becomes available in late February,  But wait until your return has been processed.

The fact that making it 13 characters and just deleting the first number made it pass is also pretty damning.  There is clearly some kind of software bug and they do not care to fix it.  The reason they don't fix it is THIS: IRS Free File Partnership: Rather than a "contract," TurboTax is sometimes a part of the IRS Free File program. This is a public-private partnership where companies agree to provide free services to low-income taxpayers in exchange for the IRS agreeing not to build its own competing software (though this agreement has been frequently contested). Legal Settlements: In recent years, Intuit has been forced to pay $141 million in restitution to millions of customers after state attorneys general alleged the company deceptively "steered" eligible free-filers into paid products. Increased Lobbying: Reports show that Intuit has reached record levels of federal lobbying spending (nearly $3.8 million in a single year) to influence tax policy and maintain its market position

Form SOC 2298 is not a tax form, so it's not available in TurboTax and isn't filed with your tax return.    See this link to find the form online. It is a California Department of Social Services form for the In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) program you can use to certify that the wages you receive for providing IHSS and/or WPCS services to the recipient named on the form will be excluded from your federal and state personal income taxes. Contact your local (County) DPSS office or other IHSS office for more information. The form has to be filed with the State DSS office in Sacramento.   Please see this help article for information on how to account for IHSS wages on your tax return depending on whether you received a W-2 and what information you were provided. The article was just updated on January 26, 2026.

This is now fixed but you will need to follow these steps to generate the form and/or fix your rejection:   Sign in to your TurboTax Online account and select Fix my return. Select Federal from the left menu, then Deductions & Credits. Scroll down to Charitable Donations and select Revisit next to Donations to Charity in 2025. You must review each non-cash donation entry. For any donation or group of similar items over $500, ensure you have provided: The organization's name and address. A description of the property. The date you acquired it and how (e.g., purchase, gift). Your cost or basis and the Fair Market Value (FMV). Once you provide these details, TurboTax will automatically generate Form 8283.   If the form still does not appear in your Tax Summary: Go to Tax Tools > Tools > Delete a form. Check if there is a "ghost" Form 8283 or Charitable Contribution Worksheet that is blank. Delete it. Go back to the Donations section and re-enter the details for the specific high-value items. This forces the software to re-trigger the form creation. Once corrected, proceed to the File section to resubmit your federal return.

I was scammed with this added fee as well and I reported it to my bank. This is fraudulent, I know I checked my total before paying with my credit card but it only shows on your receipt after paying because I would have removed it before paying. I want my refund. I'm definitely reporting this.

Definition: It stands for a "Cafeteria Plan" or "Section 125 Plan," which allows for pre-tax deductions on benefits. Tax Impact: The amounts listed here are pre-tax, meaning they have already been deducted from your taxable wages, resulting in a lower tax bill. Informational Purposes: These entries in Box 14 are usually for information only, and they typically do not need to be entered into tax software to calculate your taxes, as they are already accounted for in Box 1.

Do you have a reject code? It should tell you what you need to correct.   Here's how you can fix it:  Sign in to your account and select the Fix my return button. Follow any “fix it” instructions to update the information causing the rejection.    Note: Not all rejections will have explicit guides to fix the information. You’ll need to navigate to the program area to address the cause of the rejection.    Time-saving Tip: If what you originally entered is correct, you won't be able to e-file. There's probably a data mismatch at the government, a dependent that's already been claimed, or some other situation beyond your control that prevents your return from being e-filed. In this case, your only option would be to print and mail in your return. This article will give you instruction on how to print and mail your return.    Additional reject instruction here.
