BUT...you should wait for your refund, or pay the original balance due before amending....the processing of the original and it's Refund or Balance Due can't be stopped. ANNNNND>>' The 1040X form needed for amending is not supposed to be ready until on/after 19 FEBRUARY, so you really can't file the amended return until then. So come back to start to amend.....perhaps in early March.

My husband and I purchased our home from his grandmother via land contract in Wisconsin this year. She, or rather the trust set up by her and her late husband, is acting as the lender in this land contract, so we have been making monthly payments to her with interest. Do I need to give her a 1099INT? If yes, can I do this myself or do I need to hire someone? If no, what do I provide her instead? I was thinking a summary of the monthly payments with a breakdown of total int. and princ. in case either party can use them on our tax return. I would really appreciate help with these questions and navigating this situation to get our taxes done correctly! Thank you!

See here. One per IRA makes more sense. The instructions for that section send you to yet another webpage, Retirement Income. References: NJ DOR NJ Retirement Income Exclusions

And....are you certain the notice about this really came from her state and is not a scam? 2018 is a long time ago. Check with the state to make sure this is legit.

Yes, you are correct. Here is how to enter.
Open (continue) your return in TurboTax
Go to federal>deductions and credits>estimate and other taxes paid
Foreign taxes >start
When you reach the screen Do You Want the Deduction or the Credit? select the option you prefer for your situation
If you select Take a Credit:
Continue through the screens until it asks for income type. Here select passive income.
When you reach the screen Country Summary, select Add a Country. Add Puerto Rico
Other Gross income enter the gross amount of the pension.
Don't enter the expenses as this may negatively impact your Foreign Tax paid.
Foreign losses. You may wish to leave this blank.
Foreign taxes paid. Select the option that mentions foreign taxes paid on pensions etc.
Be sure to indicate the date these were paid
Answer the questions about your foreign income, taxes, and expenses on the following screens
When finished, you'll be taken back to the Country Summary screen. If everything looks correct, continue
Finish out the remainder of the interview.
Once this section is complete, a Form 1116 will be generated in the return and the foreign taxes paid will be properly reported.

Then open your file. So you first might need to start a fake return to be able to download the state program (go to FILE - NEW). Enter some basic information, then go to the state tab and download the state program. Then try to open your existing return, go to FILE - OPEN

If the form 1095-A is under your dependent's name and you are claiming that dependent, there's no need to change the name. Just enter the form 1095-A in your tax return.
