If eligible you will find this on Schedule 1-A Part V and line 13b of your form 1040. TurboTax will automatically calculate it based on your date of birth and your income.  There is not a special section or box to check.  Just enter your correct information and TurboTax will take it from there.     For Tax Year 2025 through 2028, seniors may claim an additional deduction of $6,000 per taxpayer over 65.  This is NOT a refundable credit.  This is a deduction of your income.  If your income is above $75,000 ($150,000 if Married filing jointly) the bonus deduction decreases by $.06 for every dollar over the relevant amount.  This deduction is available whether you itemize or take the standard deduction. If your filing status is married filing separately you are not eligible for this deduction. This bonus deduction is ONLY for those over 65, it does not apply to those who are blind and under 65   The standard deduction for tax year 2025 is $15,750 for single and $31,500 for married filing jointly. For those over 65 or blind your standard deduction is increased by: $2,000 per qualifying factor if you are single or filing head of household $1,600 per person per qualifying factor if you are married (filing jointly or separately)   This is NOT available for those who itemize deductions.    Example.   Say you are both over 65 and are married filing jointly with a household income of $100,000.  You do not itemize expenses, but you take the standard deduction.    Your income of $100,000 would produce taxable income of $53,300 $100,000-$31,500 standard deduction= $68,500 $68,500-$3,200 Additional standard deduction=$65,300 $65,300-$12,000 Bonus deduction for over 65= $53,300 Note: If your household income was $35,000 and you were both over 65 and married filing jointly, the total deduction would lower your taxable income to $0.  Your income cannot be lower than $0.     Here are the instructions for how to preview your Form 1040 in TurboTax: TurboTax Online Version Select Tools. During 2025, I rolled over a traditional IRA to another traditional IRA. I received 1099-Rs from both which I entered on Turbotax. Now the rolled over distribution from the first is showing up as income (Box 7 is coded G). At no point is Turbotax asking me about the rolled over money. How do I get this distribution recorded as a rollover and not as income? Thanks!

The reference to a loss from 2024 would mean a loss that was reported on that tax return. As such, the loss may have included a loss carried over from a previous year. In other words, you should be listing the loss on your tax return every year, including the years you don't use it. If you had such a loss but neglected to report it in 2024, or you entered it in 2024 but it was a carryover from a previous year, you can enter it where you see the instruction to enter the loss from 2024.

Correct, the only reason you have a gain in North Carolina is because they do not allow the loss.  Because Utah does allow the loss, you do not pay tax on the gain.  The credit for taxes paid to another state only applies to income that is double-taxed.  @guythatwalksthehill

An Internet search reveals a transcript 971 code can mean the IRS has sent or is about to send a notice regarding your tax account.  In a search the adjacent "CP 0075" could mean a CP75 letter asking for documentation of something in your return, possibly related to a tax credit, such as EIC, ACTC, etc.  If you receive an IRS notice/letter, it should have instructions on how to proceed, as well as a phone number if you need to phone the IRS for more info.   If you have an IRS online account, you can log in and go to the notices & letters section to see if it shows any notice/letter that was sent or about to be sent.
