You can claim an itemized deduction for real estate tax on any property that you own in the United States, no matter how it is used. In TurboTax go to Federal Taxes > Deductions & Credits > Your Home > Property Taxes. There are separate boxes for real estate tax on your primary home and on other real estate. Real estate tax is an itemized deduction. It will not reduce your tax or increase your refund unless your total itemized deductions are more than your standard deduction. Also, the total deduction for state and local taxes is limited to a maximum of $40,000 per year ($20,000 if you are married filing separately). The maximum applies to the total of real estate tax, personal property tax, and either state and local income tax or state and local sales tax. Insurance on property that is not being rented is not deductible.

Error code 606 means you are entering an invalid license code. Did you purchase Desktop Software or Online Software? There is a difference between a License Code (for Desktop) and an Activation Code (for Online). You are trying to enter a Code for TurboTax Online in a Desktop software (or vice-versa).    Look on your box from Staples and it will distinguish between TurboTax Online and TurboTax Desktop. They are not the same software, and codes from one cannot be used in the other.     If your box is for TurboTax Online, you can activate your code to your account on this link.   If your box is for TurboTax Desktop, you can download/install your software from this link.

@DavidD66 you are correct that form 4255 cannot be deleted because it's populated. The real question is "why is it being populated". TurboTax copied the value from Schedule M line 12 (Total additions) not just to IL 1040 line 3 (as the instructions for Schedule M say), but also to form 4255, line 19 (Distributive share of recapture from partnerships and S corporations from Schedule(s) K-1-P) in Column A which is titled "Enterprise Zone or River Edge Redevelopment Zone Investment Credit recapture".  Why was it done? Any help will be greatly appreciated

Once your return is filed, TurboTax has no control over the processing or the timing when the IRS releases your refund.    The IRS Where's My Refund site will not take into account the 5 days early, but if you signed up for the 5 Day Early product, you should receive your refund deposited 5 days prior to the date indicated by the IRS, assuming all conditions are met.   For more information click on the link below 5 Days Early Option   If you don't get your deposit 5 days early, there is a few reasons why that might happen.   Your refund was offset or differed from their estimated refund amount, bringing the refund amount below the minimum threshold or above the maximum. What is a refund offset? Your bank wouldn't accept RTP (Real Time Payments) or Same Day ACH deposits, preventing Intuit from depositing your refund 5 days ahead of when the IRS would have deposited your refund. The IRS didn't give Intuit 5 or more days of notice in advance. This stopped Intuit from meeting the 5 days early expectations. If TurboTax is unable to deliver the refund 5 days early, your order will be canceled and you won't be charged the 5-Day Early fee. You will receive a follow-up email with a refund and timing update, and if any cancellation is applicable.

“Accepted” is not the same as “approved”.  TurboTax tells you the e-file was accepted if the IRS deems that there is enough information on the return for them to take it in for processing.   Only the IRS can approve of the refund, which is a later stage of processing.  If the IRS approves your refund they will provide a date for the refund to be issued.     TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.  “21 days”  is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.      First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:  https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/   Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.     You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2025 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:    https://www.irs.gov/refunds   To track your state refund:     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_US_en_US?uid=lt447ebr   If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/refunds-take-longer-others/L14YlqFrH_US_en_US?uid=lexdr7zh . https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/irs-refund-taking-longer-21-days/L2vRAJbdU_US_en_US?uid=lexe7lst         If you are getting earned income credit on line 27 or additional child tax credit on line 28 You are subject to the delay required by the PATH act.  Do not expect your refund before early March   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/internal-revenue-service/federal-refunds-delayed-due-path-act/L5jnQJsBi_US_en_US     FROM THE IRS WHERE’S MY REFUND SITE: https://www.irs.gov/wheres-my-refund How it works Where's My Refund shows your refund status: Return Received – We received your return and are processing it. Refund Approved – We approved your refund and are preparing to issue it by the date shown. Refund Sent – We sent the refund to your bank or to you in the mail. It may take 5 days for it to show in your bank account or several weeks for your check to arrive in the mail.

There are several rules surrounding traditional IRA contributions.  It isn't clear, but are you making a traditional IRA contribution to a spousal IRA for a non-working spouse?   If you are covered by a retirement plan at your work, your spousal IRA deduction becomes limited if your joint Modified Adjusted Gross Income is above $126,000 and is eliminated entirely at amounts over $146,000.  Also, the amount of the IRA contributions for both of you cannot exceed the amount of earned income in the year.   IRS Publication 590-A discusses contributions to IRA accounts.   If the above information doesn't completely answer your question, please reply back with as much detailed information as possible such as your adjusted gross income, whether your spouse is working, and whether either of you are covered by a retirement plan at work.  The more detail we have will help us to better help you.

Since you've already tried the standard "reinstall" and "re-input" methods, here is the technical workaround to bypass the loop:   1. The "Forms Mode" Override (Most Effective) If the interview screen is stuck, you can bypass it by entering your banking info directly on the worksheet. In the top-right corner of TurboTax, click the Forms icon. In the list of forms on the left, find the Federal Information Worksheet (it might be abbreviated as Info Wks). Scroll down to Part V - Direct Deposit and Direct Debit Information. Manually check the box for Direct Deposit. Type in your Routing Number, Account Number, and Type of Account (Checking/Savings) directly into the blue fields. Once entered, click the Easy Step icon to go back to the interview. The software should now recognize the data is present and let you proceed to the "Transmit" screen.

it might be one of two reasons for this. 1) Change in business usage % where TurboTax thinks that too much depreciation was taken in the past or 2) there was an error in the depreciation taken in prior years. $7838 is correct. I am using the desktop version of home and business turbotax 2025.   I am having an issue with my Wisconsin return. On form 1 line 44 there is no code listed. For sch u  Should be 8. On my Federal return. Turbo tax filed Form 2210. I would think this would have turbotax use a code 8 on line 44 of my Wisconsin return. But the line is blank I made a Roth conversion in the fourth quarter and paided the tax prior to 1/15/2025. Which made my income uneven through the year. The state is indicating that I have an underpayment of 143 dollars.  Fed says I have no penality.   Thanks Roman
