No, specifically choosing itemized deductions versus standard deduction did not update the amount to the larger itemized deduction amount. I finally discarded the return that wasn't calculating correctly and re-entered the exact same information into a new return. After doing that, the software is working correctly and using the higher itemized deduction amount. I've never had problems with TT in all the years that I have used it until now. Disconcerting, especially since someone that is not an accountant, like me, might not catch the discrepancy. Trust but verify!

Mine were rejected yesterday. Apparently from research it has to do with the code you need to add this year. Daikins code is being rejected.

I attempted to do this but do not see the student information worksheet and never got that question amount used to calculate. It did trigger form 8615 on students return, is this right? It also did increase her AGI and income which I figure is correct. Or should I delete the 1098T and start over ?

It depends. Typically, some states may take several days or more to be accepted after the federal.
Here is an article you may find helpful: Why is my state e-file still pending?

The IRS just opened on January 26 to accept/reject e-files. Millions of e-files been waiting on the servers in "pending." Start watching your emails now that the IRS is open. Many e-files are on the servers so it could still take a day or two. The IRS cannot accept all of them at the same time.
DID YOU E-FILE?
Did you e-file? Did you go through all three steps of the FILE section and click a big orange button that said “Transmit my returns now?”
When you e-file your return you will get two emails from TurboTax. The first one will say your return has been transmitted; the second one will tell you the IRS has accepted or rejected your federal e-file. If you filed a state return, there will be a third email (usually a day or two later) that tells you if the state e-file was accepted or rejected.
Check your e-file status:

This is ridiculous. It's Jan 31 and I still cannot record depreciation or the sale of real estate.

Yes. Any income reported to you on a W-2 must be included as wages in your tax return. There is no indication a deduction would apply to these wages. Deductions are handled in various ways for various reasons, however there are no job related expenses allowed except for military personnel.
If you are an employee you are not allowed any deduction for your work related uniforms or fees.
Who qualifies for employee business expense?
Per the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) effective 2018-2025

TT can't handle rounding errors. If box 1 (rounded) + box 2 (rounded) does not equal box 3 (rounded), you have to force it by rounding one of the boxes the other direction.

I am trying to submit my taxes and I do not have the SSN for my nieces and nephew. UGIFT does not provide them and I do not want to have them. Turbo Tax needs to do better and find a workaround or I will take my business elsewhere. Really dumb, especially since people are extremely sensitive about PII, as our laws in the EU and other countries.

Good morning. I have been on hold off and on with one of your customer service reps. He seems to be unable to assist me with retrieving my previous information / documents that I will need to view. They seem to have dissappeared. Been on the phone with him for an hour! I asked that he esculate the issue to his supervisor, however he says they are busy. I asked that they send my missing information to my email, but he is unable to. Help!

Yes understood about rounding. Having it not be the full value is the mystery. Previous state return was efiled by TT and still shows as accepted in my TT acct with the same amt due and pd as I have entered into the software this year. No follow up mailings from the state about rejections or penalties.
