In the desktop program go into "Forms" view and to form 8881. At the top of form 8881 is the section that shows which form to link the 8881 to. Make certain that it is linked to whichever one of you you want the first one linked to.
Then click add a form at the top and add form 8881. When that appears make certain that it is linked to the other of you. That should allow for the full credit amount.

Here are a few FAQs to help you track your refund: When will I get my federal tax refund? How do I track my state refund?

I am trying to add direct contributions I made from my bank account to my HSA (i.e. not via my employer therefore not on W2). TurboTax is flat out refusing to ask me about this. I found several threads on the TurboTax forum where someone else asked this question and the question was answered with screenshots of what they should be seeing with TurboTax asking about direct HSA contributions. I am not getting asked this.

I have a 26 year old son, who is no longer a dependent. He returned to school in 2025 (only attended one year prior to 2025). I withdrew our remaining funds ($16K) from a 529 plan (I was the recipient) to pay for educational expenses ( $14K in tuition), but also paid for room and board for Aug - Dec ($3K per month based on school's published Cost of Attendance). So basically there were more qualified expenses than the 529 funds covered. I am not reporting the 1099Q in my taxes since all of it went towards qualified expenses. Since his is independent, he is filing his own taxes (he had an income for 2025 because he worked prior to returning to school). He received a 1099T from school which was entered into his tax filing. His taxes are reporting a $1000 American Opportunity Tax Credit. everything I've read is you can't "double dip", but I have been told that there is no double dipping since the 529 disbursement and the AOTC are on two separate tax returns. Please advise if I am doing anything wrong.

If you have already filed, you can go to https://trumpaccounts.gov/ to do this.

Did you ever get an answer to your 1035 question regarding how PA is handling the 1099-R form. I was surprised to see the schedule d show up since it's not a sale of anything.

TurboTax asked "What is the refund/recontributed amount?" (those could be two different things) and the adjacent box says "Recontributed amount." However, there was no page to say Refunded Amount (just the yes/no question). The section seems to ignore the possibility that it was refunded and not Recontributed.

Thank you for explaining that depreciation starts mid-month. I couldn't figure out why TurboTax was showing a lower depreciation than my calculation for a rental property purchased in 2025. I was on the phone with TurboTax helpline for over an hour, and the rep couldn't figure it out either. Thankfully, I read this response and I was able to recreate the TurboTax depreciation exactly.

Unfortunately, the IRS mandates the QMID for 2025. TurboTax is programmed to block the credit without that four-digit code to prevent a rejected return.
Per IRS 5695 Instructions: "Beginning January 1, 2025, if you are claiming the energy efficient home improvement credit for specified property placed into service in 2025, you must include the four-character alphanumeric unique qualified manufacturer identification number (QMID) for each item."

Thanks @RobertB4444 , I've restarted my computer, cleared my cache and cookies. opened a new browser windoqw, logged into TurboTax, and the below screenshots are what I See. After Clicking "Fix it now" on screenshot #1, then Clicking "Continue" on #2 (despite the message), I see the green checkmark, indicating it fixed it? do I just click "Continue to e-file" (screenshot #3) ? i don't see any indication that TurboTax changed/updated anything. Is there a way to verify this before trying to e-file again?

No (imo) - these refund gimmicks are not worth the cost or hassle inserting 3rd parties between you and the IRS. Keep it simple - file normally, check the fee breakdown before your pay, pay fees upfront, and IRS will send your refund when they send it. note it's "up to 5 days early" so it could just end up being 1 day early and it depends on when IRS sends information. please avoid "Pay with My Refund" this costs $40 and routes your return through a 3rd party bank. read all the smallprint here https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund-advance/turbotaxs-five-days-early-refund-delivery-options/L9U8ngZlH_US_en_US https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund-advance/difference-5-days-early-refund-advance/L44eOlu6T_US_en_US https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/intuit-account-billing/remove-pay-refund-fees-turbotax-online-change/L7UxC6ZZp_US_en_US How to check/reduce fees: https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/intuit-account-billing/review-fees-turbotax-online/L1XnIzgzg_US_en_US https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/intuit-account-billing/reduce-fees/L3Kp3yEYs_US_en_US

Thank you @MarilynG1, I will try what you suggested. I did not enter Property Taxes when I entered my Mortgage Interest from Form 1098 (I pay property taxes separately from my mortgage). And the deduction the software is taking for SALT is more than double my property taxes (it's taking the maximum $40k for some reason when my property taxes are only around $13k). In any case, I'll try to re-enter the property taxes after clearing cache/cookies and re-opening Turbo Tax. Thanks again for your help.

If you're using TurboTax Online, go back to the Deductions Topics page and choose either Add/Edit/Review next to Medical Expenses. If you're not able to enter your Medical Expenses (first page is prescription expenses), you can Delete the Medical Expenses Worksheet from your return.
Close TurboTax, clear your Cache and Cookies, reopen the program and you should then be able to enter your Medical Expenses.
