If your overtime is listed in box 14 of your W-2 and you chose the Overtime category, TurboTax will figure out the overtime deduction and add it to Form 1040, line 13b.

Why would you want to do that, when TurboTax offers a simple e-file version of filing for an extension? As the original author asks, why would we use a 20 year-old method of postal service and paper for something that is as simple as clicking a button on the online version. I'm not sure why people are playing apologist to Intuit on this topic. It is hard to give a good reason that we shouldn't have the same easy experience filing an extension on the app/program as we have using the online web version. It is something that Intuit should provide. You should be able to - at any point while preparing your taxes - decide that you want to file an extension while using the program/app and do so. Right now, if you are doing your taxes and decide you need an extension, you either print a paper form and mail it, or you go online, and enter ALL of your personal info AGAIN while dodging repeated attempts to get you to pay for something you already own in order to do something that should be a simple click of a button in the app/program version. That's not an unreasonable expectation, nor is it an odd or unusual situation for a taxpayer to find themself in.

Be careful of this:
USER ERROR WITH SOCIAL SECURITY ENTRY
We have seen a lot of people who made a user error with the entry of their SSA1099. The screen right after you enter the SSA1099 asks you if you lived in certain foreign countries in 2025. If you skipped past that screen or answered incorrectly, your Social Security was not taxed correctly. Look at your Form 1040 and see if line 6b was left blank due to that mistake. The IRS is catching those mistakes and correcting them by reducing your refund or increasing your tax due. It is really so important to read every screen slowly and carefully from top to bottom as you prepare your tax return to avoid errors.
Up to 85% of your Social Security benefits can be taxable on your federal tax return. There is no age limit for having to pay taxes on Social Security benefits if you have other sources of income along with the SS benefits. When you have other income such as earnings from continuing to work, investment income, pensions, etc. up to 85% of your SS can be taxable.
What confuses people about this is that before you reach full retirement age, if you continue working while drawing SS, your benefits can be reduced if you earn over a certain limit. (For 2021 it was $18,960. For 2022 it was $19,560 — for 2023 $21,240) For 2024, $22,320. For 2025 it will be $23,400; 2026 $24,480
After full retirement age, no matter how much you continue to earn, your benefits are not reduced by your earnings; your employer will still have to withhold for Social Security and Medicare. If you work as an independent contractor then you will pay self-employment tax for Social Security and Medicare.
To see how much of your Social Security was taxable, look at lines 6a and 6b of your 2025 Form 1040

You need to file a federal return if half your Social Security plus your other income is
Single or Head of Household $25,000
Married Filing Jointly $32,000
Married Filing Separately $0

Your fee is the same whether you e-file or file by mail. There was no extra fee to e-file. The fee was for the use of the software to prepare your tax return.

If you own an LLC partnership, you will need to file a form 1065, this can be done using TurboTax BUSINESS. When you file the 1065, you will enter partner info and generate a K-1 which will report each of your shares of income and losses.
You will then take the K-1 and enter it into your personal program. You will need to use TurboTax Premium or Premier to enter the K-1. You can file the return jointly, you will just enter each of your K-1's separately.

Sounds like something got stuck. You can try these things:
Log Out Completely: Before doing anything else, click Sign Out in the TurboTax menu.
Clear Cache and Cookies: This removes old, "corrupted" data that might be confusing the website.
Use an Incognito (Private) Window: This is the most effective "quick fix" because it launches the browser without any saved history or extensions (like AdBlockers) that often interfere with tax forms.
Check Pop-up Blockers: TurboTax often opens forms (like the 1099 PDF) or payment windows in a separate pop-up. Look at the right side of your address bar for a small icon with a "red X"—click it and select "Always allow pop-ups from Intuit."
Restart the Browser: Close all open windows of your browser entirely and then reopen it.
Most TurboTax errors happen because the browser is trying to use an old "session" from a previous visit. By clearing the cache or using Incognito mode, you force the browser to establish a brand-new, secure connection with the Intuit servers.

If you want to check the debit date you specified, look on the filing instructions for your return. It will tell you the debit date the IRS or State will deduct the payment. If you did not print them out you can view them using the following steps:
If you filed using TurboTax Online, the Electronic Filing Instructions page will give that info.
Here's how to view the PDF copy:
Sign in to TurboTax and open your return.
On the Tax Home screen, scroll to Your tax returns & documents and select Add a State (don't worry, you're not actually adding a state, this just gets you into the right area) to access your tax forms and worksheets.
In the menu, select Tax Tools, then Print Center.
On the TurboTax Print Center screen, select Print, save or preview this year’s return.
On the next TurboTax Print Center screen, select 2025 Federal return and Include government and TurboTax worksheets, then select View or print forms.
The information will be on the first page, Electronic Filing Instructions, for your 2025 Federal Tax Return, next to Balance Due/Refund.
TurboTax CD/Download
Go into Forms Mode by clicking on the Forms icon in the top right of the blue bar.
In the Forms in My Return list on the left, click Filing Inst. [It's usually toward the bottom of the list.] The form will appear on the right side of the screen.
You can view the form on the screen or you can print a copy by clicking the Print box at the bottom of the screen.
To return to the interview, click on the Step-By-Step icon in the top right of the blue bar.
