This is my first year doing our taxes and I'm using Do It Yourself Premium online. I have a 1099-B for some futures contracts. Looking at our 2024 return, I can see our accountant entered the amount from box 11 'Aggregate Profit or (loss) on Contracts' on Form 6781, along with the gain from a K-1 we had. Seems simple enough. I uploaded the form as a PDF saved from the website and have a JPEG picture of the physical copy I received. When I upload the PDF it confirms "We got your document!" but then shows $0 total gain or loss. I'm assuming these are taxable gains?? If I go in to edit it, it asks for all kinds of sales info I don't have. When I upload the picture, it's not able to read most of the form- it only gets the account holder's name and I don't have the form with me to take another picture. Help!

I don’t understand where both of you are getting hung up on Married filing Separately? That shouldn’t apply. When did her spouse pass? Sounds like she is filing Single now and 1/2 of ss is 12,250 (24,500/2) plus 6,250 is only 18,500 and less than 25,000 makes none of SS taxable. So her taxable income is only 6,250. Much less that the Standard Deduction 17,750. So she doesn’t have to file except to get back any withholding taken out on the 1099R or SSA-1099.

I have Submitted my Federal Filing, however when I go to submit my State, I get an Entry error on Form 540 Line 12, that the sum of state wages does not equal the sum of wages on the W-2, Box 16. They do Match though. I have deleted the uploaded W-2, and have manually re-entered the Box 16, of the W-2. They match, but somehow do not transfer as such, from Turbo Fed to State. I Can Not submit my State Taxes with this error, it continually comes back to check this one item.

You have to allow a realistic amount of time for the IRS to pull your payment out. They do not pull out your payment until they have accepted your return and begun to process it. You will need to watch your own bank account to see when that happens.
Did you e-file? Did you go through all three steps of the FILE section and click a big orange button that said “Transmit my returns now?”
When you e-file your return you will get two emails from TurboTax. The first one will say your return has been transmitted; the second one will tell you the IRS has accepted or rejected your federal e-file. If you filed a state return, there will be a third email (usually a day or two later) that tells you if the state e-file was accepted or rejected.
Check your e-file status:

I have owned a rental house since 2017. When I started my taxes using TT last week, for some reason, TT asked me questions and seemed to forget I had this rental house. So when it asked for the cost basis, I had to go back to the paperwork of the sale. There I discovered I had previously only entered half of the cost basis and therefore I had only been taking depreciation on half the cost basis. Should I use Form 3115 to increase the cost basis to the correct amount? How do I correct this?
