I started a small business this past year with a friend of mine. We didn’t profit any this past year as we just barely started up but I wanted to know if I could file my 1065 and my W2 from my day job together using TurboTax like I have every year prior to owning a business. I know I have to do my 1065 before my W2 and that’s where I’m stuck at

Have you contacted the broker and asked them to provide proof that your SPY options are 1256 contracts? We can not provide guidance on what to do if the broker won't change the reporting. The IRS will match what you report with what the broker reports. At that point, you may have a chance to appeal, but that could be costly. Maybe find a broker that doesn't treat them as section 1256 options.

I am managing a farm through a Revocable Living Trust. I have used and paid invoices during the 2025 tax year for legal services/advice and farm appraisal fees. Both invoices significantly exceeded the $600 threshold. Both companies are well established businesses. As a manager of the trust do I fill out the 1099-NEC or do they. Since they are well established businesses can I just claim the legal and appraisal expenses on the trust tax forms as a cost of doing business. If a 1099-NEC is needed, I guess one needs to obtain their EIN # for the form. Correct?

Thank you for your slow response on updating 1099-R.I decided to switch to another tax program that does not have the same problem as you do and I do not have to pay them anything. Thanks again!

I am using Turbo Tax and want to know I I have to enter this additional deduction on my 1040 form manually?

Since you already reported the income in a prior year, you would adjust the sale proceeds for the prorated rent. In other words, include the adjustment that was made as part of your selling expenses.
