A phone number is not required to file a tax return.  However, the TurboTax program makes it required. You can enter any phone number you wish as long as it has a US area code.   Try 202-456-1414

Well, I'm very happy to say that, as a result of either this post or the similar email I sent to support when the refund was denied, Intuit support reached out to me, and after clarifying the situation and gathering some documentation from me, agreed to refund the entire $203 for the Online program. I don't think it should have been so hard, but I'm grateful to Elsa and the others on that team who recognized the mistakes made and took steps to rectify them.

Go to the FILE Tab and follow the prompts.   Did you try that?   @Bessieliddell

I am sorry for the loss of your father.   If the property was transferred to you and your three sisters outright (your mother and father were not on title) over 15 years ago, then you really don't have much of an argument for a life estate, expressed or implied. Further, your mother was alive on the date of the sale and still is alive to date.   As a result, you will likely have to use your parents' cost basis (in 1953) plus the cost of improvements over the course of the ownership of the house to measure your total gain on the sale.
Do I have to uninstall the 1st version and re-install the new one?

@TurboLover2 wrote: Right, but if I delete my data does that mean I lose my online account?  No, you're not deleting your account, you're deleting data that is online. You need an account but do NOT need to store any of your tax data online.   To the best of my knowledge, in fact, you cannot actually delete your account without some sort of intervention by Intuit personnel; you can only delete any data stored online.

While I agree with @Mike9241 the question is not clear. The question was asked in the Business software section, but the  original message indicates TT online which is only available for individual returns; which could include Schedule C or information from a Schedule K-1. What tax return are you referring to?

@M-MTax    Thank you for your response.   Right, but if I delete my data does that mean I lose my online account?  As I recall from filing through Desktop you need to have an active online account to file.   When I started the process to delete the data it said something like "We will sign you out of your account one last time." leading me to think that my account will disappear, which I don't want since I need to use it to file.   The worst case scenario is finding out at the last minute when I have the return done that I can't file it because deleting my data in the last year eliminated my account or caused some other kind of filing problem.

If you already e-filed you are stuck with "5 days early" if the return is accepted.  If it rejects you can try to remove that option in the FILE section before you re-file.       "5 days early" means you are supposed to receive your federal refund from one to five days sooner than the refund date shown on the IRS refund site.   If it does not meet that "at least one day sooner" date, they are supposed to refund the $35 fee.   You have to pay attention to the date on the IRS refund site. You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2025 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:    https://www.irs.gov/refunds     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund-advance/turbotaxs-five-days-early-refund-delivery-options/L9U8ngZlH_US_en_US
This happened to me and I was forced to file for a tax extension. I called several times and nothing happened. I am never using TurboTax again.

@TurboLover2 wrote: I want to delete that single document, I don't want to have problems filing with Turbotax Desktop next year. That should have no impact. Since you use a desktop version of TurboTax, all of your data is contained in your .tax file that you saved on your computer (or other media) and will transfer into next year's return. Nothing stored online is relevant in that regard.
The wording on that page where you accept or decline was not clear. The first time it popped up during the process I declined it but then it came up a second time, I started to second guess declining it.

I have used Turbotax Desktop to file my taxes for many years.  I DO NOT use the online version of Turbotax to file.  I recently downloaded my data from Intuit/Turbotax to see what data was in their records.   There was nothing in that data that I want to delete except one single .pdf file of a tax form from many years ago that has my social security number on it and I do not want on file in my data.  I don't need that form as I have my own copies of it and it is very old so likely will never be needed anyway.   As far as I know there is no way to request deletion of just that form which is what I would like to do.   So is my only option to delete everything?  And if I do delete everything, does that mean I lose the Intuit/Turbotax account?  Does it mean that I can't use Turbotax Desktop to file next year the way I usually do each year using that account or that I will have problems doing that?   After reading everything I saw about what happens if I request to delete data I am still unclear what happens if I do.  I want to delete that single document, I don't want to have problems filing with Turbotax Desktop next year.   Thanks for any help sorting this out.
