Unfortunately, “downgrading” won’t change the fact that the charge still goes through for Premium, which is absolutely fraudulent.   I submitted my payment last night with a TurboTax representative on the line with me (who was very helpful by the way) under “Deluxe,” which is the product I use every year.  She was live and sharing a screen with me so she could see in real time that the fees were at Deluxe level, with the name of the product written clear as day BUT as soon as I clicked submit for my credit card payment to go through, the numbers were at Premium and at the point PAYMENT WAS TAKEN.   What an awful feeling! She had me hold so she could talk to management and returned to the line, letting me know she would be able to send a link for a refund request.  The link was broken so I had to call again and the second link sent did work.  HOWEVER, I WAS DENIED THE REFUND within a couple of hours.  This is absolutely the biggest scam, and I understand how a company does so well when it is stealing money from every American filing.  This is unacceptable.

You may be able to deduct the foreign taxes or take a credit against your tax for them.    To apply for a credit for foreign taxes paid or accrued during the year:   1. From the Federal section of TurboTax, go to the Deductions and Credits section 2. Find Estimates and Other Taxes Paid 3. Choose Foreign Taxes 4. Indicate that you paid foreign taxes or have credits from prior years 5. Work through the section until you see an option to take a deduction or credit, the credit is usually better 6. Complete the rest of the section

Things you can try are:   Select Resend verification code to request another code. Make sure you leave the TurboTax window open, as closing it will invalidate the code. Open another tab or window or use a different browser to check your email for the code. If you're using a mobile device, it's okay to open your email app or another tab in your browser. Just keep TurboTax open in the background and return when you've got your code. If you still have issues, you can contact us.   What if I'm having trouble with my filing verification code?

No.  A qualified domestic relations order would be when the court orders you to split the 401k with your ex-spouse.  You can't use that exception to pay for the divorce process.   You could claim the penalty exception for "emergency personal expense" on up to $1000 of withdrawals, the rest will be subject to tax and the full penalty.

Yes, it can. The following will explain how the amount of social security income taxable amount is included. At your income level, it's likely that 85% will be included which is the maximum allowed.   When will some social security income become taxable? if half of your social security, combined with your other taxable income is below the following base amounts, then none of your social security would count as taxable income. The base amount for your filing status is: $25,000 if you're single, head of household, or qualifying surviving spouse, $25,000 if you're married filing separately and lived apart from your spouse for the entire year, $32,000 if you're married filing jointly, $0 if you're married filing separately and lived with your spouse at any time during the tax year.  Social Security Income FAQs

@user17762690865    A few other people had this issue too.   Their solution was that the two letter code "NC" had to be entered in box 15 of that particular 1099-R form. Go back and edit that 1099-R to make sure NC is in box 15 on that form.....and that you did select Bailey Settlement on the follow-up page.

I would like to see a diagnostic file of your return that will show me only numbers and not any of your personal information. Send this to us immediately so we can resolve this for you.   TurboTax Online Sign in to your TurboTax account and make sure you have your return open. In the left-hand sidebar, click on Tax Tools. In the dropdown that appears, select Tools. In the center pop-up window, click the link that says Share my file with agent. A message will appear explaining that a sanitized copy is being sent. Click OK. Record the Token Number: A 6-digit number will appear. Provide this number to me in this post.   TurboTax Desktop (Windows) Open your tax return in the TurboTax program. Look at the black menu bar at the very top of your computer screen (not the internal program tabs). Click on the Online menu. Select Send Tax File to Agent. Click OK on the confirmation screen. Record the Token Number: Write down the number (including the dash, e.g., 123-456) and send that to me in a reply. TurboTax Desktop (Mac) Open your tax return in the TurboTax program. Go to the Help menu in the Mac menu bar at the top of your screen. Select Send Tax File to Agent. Click OK to generate the sanitized file. Record the Token Number: Provide the resulting 6-digit number to the agent. Note: These tokens typically expire after a short period (usually 24–48 hours), so make sure to give the number to the agent as soon as you generate it.

The list of codes you're looking for - Subtraction Modifications - starts on page 5 of this document (linked to instructions page); if you're preparing your personal tax return, you want to look at the column IT-201 to see which codes in the first column are applicable to your tax return (or the Nonresident column). Keep scrolling down because there are multiple pages of subtraction mods.    Additional note-   IT-203 column for Nonresident return IT-204 column for Partnership return  IT-205 column for Estate/Trust return   See also: Instructions for NYS-DTF Form IT-201 Full-Year Resident Income Tax Return

Sounds like something got stuck. You can try these things:   Log Out Completely: Before doing anything else, click Sign Out in the TurboTax menu. Clear Cache and Cookies: This removes old, "corrupted" data that might be confusing the website. Use an Incognito (Private) Window: This is the most effective "quick fix" because it launches the browser without any saved history or extensions (like AdBlockers) that often interfere with tax forms. Check Pop-up Blockers: TurboTax often opens forms (like the 1099 PDF) or payment windows in a separate pop-up. Look at the right side of your address bar for a small icon with a "red X"—click it and select "Always allow pop-ups from Intuit." Restart the Browser: Close all open windows of your browser entirely and then reopen it.   Most TurboTax errors happen because the browser is trying to use an old "session" from a previous visit. By clearing the cache or using Incognito mode, you force the browser to establish a brand-new, secure connection with the Intuit servers.
