Before 2023, I was employed and had a high-deductible health plan. I had accumulated a bunch of money in my HSA. I withdrew some of it in 2025, but I can't seem to get TT to recognize it as not taxable. I went through the interview process multiple times, but wasn't asked if these were qualified medical expenses. Form 8889, line 14 G shows no "Qualified medical expenses". What am I missing? Thanks, Pete
If We fild jointly and I was the one with the Ssa windfall, do I add only my benifit or onclude my husbands?
Make sure you are entering it in the correct spot.   Look for Social Security (SSA-1099) in the Retirement Plans and Social Security section.

This is so crazy. I just saw someone else say they talked to someone at TurboTax that said it would be updated today for online users and tomorrow (2/20) for desktop users. If this is not updated by tomorrow. I'm filing with someone else. TaxAct already has had the form available to use. I'm sure TurboTax is the only one that has delayed this process and will be losing almost $150 from me. And I've filed our taxes with them the past 5 or 6 years.

The 1099Q was used for tuition and room and board.  They are all qualified withdrawals for a 529.  I know the room and board cannot be used to towards the education credit.  I don't believe he will have an opportunity to claim an education credit since he also received an unexpected scholarship that would have covered some of his tuition.  I just saw a message saying that TurboTax will have an update for the room and board by February 28th.  Note I have been withdrawing from 529s since 2018.  I have documentation in place for each of my kids in separate binders with all expenses and corresponding receipts for these withdrawals.  This year has been the most difficult for entering the 529 data. I don't understand why this part of Turbo Tax had to be modified.  Should be the same data entry year to year - tuition, books, room and board, and supplies (ie computer, tools, etc) - all qualified withdrawals for a 529.  All data that I have entered in previous years.  Just frustrating. Not every one qualifies for credits.  It is just a bonus if Turbo Tax suggests it.
