Hi! Are there any updates on when the "Upgrade - Form 8959" message will be resolved? The IRS is taking returns now and TurboTax is still trying to require me to upgrade and pay for a simple return.
My mortgage in 1999 was a refi of a previous mortgage. How do I answer the question for last year. "Is this a refi of z previous loan".

The “senior deduction” is added automatically by the software based on the date of birth and filing status you entered into MY INFO.  You do not need to take any extra steps to enter it. (And…the new senior deduction has nothing to do with whether you are getting Social Security)     2025 STANDARD DEDUCTION AMOUNTS SINGLE $15,750  (65 or older/legally blind + $2000) MARRIED FILING SEPARATELY $15,750  (65 or older/legally blind +1600) MARRIED FILING JOINTLY $31,500  (65 or older/legally blind + $1600) HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD $23,625 (65 or older/legally blind + $2000)     For 2025 through 2028 there is an extra  deduction amount of up to $6000 per individual 65 or older filing Single, MFJ, or HOH which is phased out for taxpayers with modified adjusted gross income over $75,000 for single filers and $150,000 for joint filers.   (The deduction phases out completely at $175.000 Single or HOH, or $250,000 joint)   The $6,000 senior deduction will be calculated on 1040 Schedule 1-A page 2 Part V Enhanced Deduction for Seniors which goes to 1040 line 13b. It is separate and in addition to the Standard Deduction or your Itemized Deductions on 1040 line 12e.  Turbo Tax automatically includes it. @dmertz  Do you have an instruction or a revenue ruling that says a 1099 must be issued for a distribution, rather than a transfer?
Using two different programs will not allow you to bypass the IRS limit of 5 e-files.
Thanks for your response! I am not seeing that OAR reference anywhere it looks like it may have been changed?

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.  “21 days”  is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.      First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:  https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/   Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.     You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2025Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:    https://www.irs.gov/refunds   To track your state refund:     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_US_en_US?uid=lt447ebr   If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/refunds-take-longer-others/L14YlqFrH_US_en_US?uid=lexdr7zh . https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/irs-refund-taking-longer-21-days/L2vRAJbdU_US_en_US?uid=lexe7lst         If you are getting earned income credit on line 27 or additional child tax credit on line 28 You are subject to the delay required by the PATH act.  Do not expect your refund before early March   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/internal-revenue-service/federal-refunds-delayed-due-path-act/L5jnQJsBi_US_en_US

My order details say refund transfer but I had an email saying I was approved for an advance. Turbotax and Credit Karma were saying I was approved for an amount of $1500. I even seen $3000 at one point. The application process for the advance was pretty tricky and glitchy. I was rejected 1/23, I resubmitted my return same day. I was accepted today but anything involving the advance disappeared. I made sure that the advance was selected before submission but no advance. I spoke with a rep this evening and he told me that there was a Turbotax glitch saying people were accepted. If IRS doesn’t say accepted then you haven’t been accepted. Thing is, IRS does say accepted for me.

I've used TurboTax for 19 years.   If TurboTax does not either restore the ItsDeductable functionality or provide an alternate integrated tool, I'll be moving to another platform for the 2026 tax year.   The increasing stratification of the pricing tiers and aggressive annual price increases are barely tolerable.  Removing a key feature is a relationship killer.   I can only hope that the decision makers actually monitor these community topics boards for customer feedback.
And this is a bad one, since it's a carry over, and thus can affect many returns down the line.
More than one user now reporting desktop issues with 1040 Line 13b not populating with the $6K senior deduction despite evidently qualifying.  How does one log a support issue?

Ohio Modified Adjusted Gross Income (or MAGI) is calculated as your Ohio Adjusted Gross Income (Line 3 of your Ohio IT 1040) plus any business income deduction claimed on your Ohio return.   The Ohio MAGI is used to determine if you are eligible for various tax credits. Such as the Ohio Joint Filing Credit, Child Care Credit, and the Ohio Retirement Income credit. It is also used to figure out your exemption amounts on your Ohio tax return.  Click here for Ohio Department of Revenue Tax Forms.
