I purchased Desktop version. When I enter the code I received an offer to switch to Turbo Tax Online at no extra cost if I file by April 2026. If I take this offer but miss the April 16 deadline, can I still move my 2025 return back to Desktop and complete/file it there?  Does this also work for State (California)? If I switch to TurboTax Online under this free offer, do I lose access to TurboTax Desktop 2025 to finish and file? Thank you for your help in advance.

It depends.  If you were open for business (ready for customers and actively seeking them-whether or not you made any money) in 2025 and then got your LLC in 2026, yes, you would be able to deduct your expenses on your return.  Your expenses would be based on the timing of you opening your business, not the date you formed the LLC.  If you are a single member LLC, unless you elected to be treated as a S-Corp, you would file a  Schedule C which is part of your overall tax return. This also means you will be subject to the 15.3% SE Tax so it may be a good idea to make estimated quarterly payments to avoid penalties.   If you were NOT open for business, and the expenses you incurred were all start up expenses, then no, you cannot deduct them on your 2025 return.  You would include them on your 2026 return as start up expenses.  You would not need to file a business return for the business expenses in 2025 if you were not opened for business and did not have any income.   You can deduct up to $5,000 in start up business expenses and $5,000 in organizational costs in the first year with the remaining expenses deducted over the next 15 years if your total expenses were under $50,000.  Equipment such as a computer, desk, or things like tools would not be part of the start up costs, they would be listed as assets.    To do this in TurboTax, when entering your business profile, you will check the box that says you started the business this year. Then TurboTax will ask you about the expenses.  Taking Business Expense Deductions   Start-up Business Tax Tips   If you elected to be treated as an S-Corp, your income and expenses would be reported on an 1120-S, which can be done using TurboTax BUSINESS. This will generate either a k-1 or a W-2 which you will then enter on your personal tax return.

The letter may have come from North Carolina, but the system will work the same way.   You have been subject to a tax refund offset. "The Department of Treasury's Bureau of the Fiscal Service (BFS) issues IRS tax refunds.   Through the Treasury Offset Program, the IRS may reduce your refund and offset it to pay: Past-due child support; Federal agency nontax debts; State tax obligations; or Certain unemployment compensation debts owed to a state (generally, these are debts for Compensation paid due to fraud, or Contributions owing to a state fund that weren't paid)." It sounds like your refund was an offse and "has been applied against your ineptness to a North Carolina county /and or city."

It sounds like you qualify for Free Edition; SSA-1099s and 1099-Rs are included.    Here is a listing of what is included in the Free Edition >>  Forms in Free   A simple Form 1040 return is one that’s filed using IRS Form 1040 only (no schedules, except for EITC, CTC, student loan interest, and Schedule 1-A). Roughly 37% of taxpayers are eligible. If you have a simple Form 1040 return only as described above, you can file for free yourself with TurboTax Free Edition, or you can file with TurboTax Expert Assist Basic at the listed price. If your return doesn’t qualify for TurboTax Free Edition, we have other paid options to file using TurboTax.

The "solution" proposed by TT to sort my charitable contributions list does not work...as another also posted. I can't even copy and paste the list in its current order. When I go to the forms list I do not have a charitable contributions worksheet either. I have separate pages for each contribution with all their details. I only want a list of the charity and the amount donated in alphabetical order. Can TT Premier do this? If so, how?

You should be able to access the underpayment penalty worksheet (Form 2210) in the TurboTax Online version. However, the forms may not show if you didn't complete the Underpayment Penalty questionnaire.    Select Other Tax Situations from the left side menu, and look for Underpayment Penalty under Additional Tax Payments. Go through the Underpayment Penalty section and answer all the questions. This should ensure that the forms appear in your return. Depending on your situation, it could also affect the calculation of the penalty.   Navigate to Tax Tools on the left menu, select Print Center, choose Print, save, or preview this year's return, and select the option to Include government and TurboTax worksheets. You will need to have paid for your Online product in order to print these forms.    See this help article for more information.

I have a similar issue.  NJ tax taken on W2. 6 month resident in NJ, 6 month resident in PA.  What is the order in which I need to file?  Because I did the NJ residency form for the 6 months I lived there and got a Turbo Tax credit, then it took me to PA ending with a negative balance but wanting to delete my NJ form.  I don't even see how to fit a NJ non resident into the mix.  I don't understand if there a reciprocal agreement between NJ and PA, why cant they just assume the tax that was paid on one sheet.
No.  If you are using the online account, you can only prepare one return per account.  If you use the download/desktop version, you can prepare multiple returns with the downloaded software.
At the Federal level, there is no tax breaks for contributing to a 529 plan.   But many states offer a deduction for such contributions. I can be more specific if you can indicate your state.
